Marea is very welcoming with excellent vibe, great food and drink presentation, and high quality service. The people are friendly and accommodating, and it generally feels good to be in the restaurant. There was a duo singing and they sounded great, so we certainly had a good time.
This was my second time here and itās possible we just ordered the wrong thing, but it will be hard to go back. I ordered fish tacos that were fully deep fried the first time, and it was far too heavy to taste much of anything. I didnāt think I would come back, but the door man grabbed our attention while walking in casco one day, and I was convinced because of the happy hour. While I was busy swinging my son on the chair, she ordered the fish tacos for us to share! I didnāt warn her of my bad experience last time. Before they came, I was concerned for the gut bomb we were about to experience. But I learned that she ordered āsuaveā this time, so not fried. Thank god, but they came drenched in a very common store bought sweet and sour sauce. We couldnāt finish them, it was just far too heavy. I also suspect the other ingredients are low quality also, such as the triple sec in the margarita.
The place is nice, fun, and often busy. Iād recommend it for anyone just hanging out and maybe having a drink or two, but I canāt recommend anything that Iāve tasted food...

So why the 3 stars? I love frozen Margaritas and saw the table next to mine receive one and the presentation was awesome so I thought.. must be good, right? Damn was I wrong... It was basically water, tinted water. The table next to mine also complained about it. So I told the waiter to take it back and after quite a wait he brought another, this one was a little bit better but what you would still call a watery drink.
Fast forward to dessert and I decided to go with a usual fail safe choice (Hot Brownie with Ice Cream on top) but this also turned out to be a bad surprise. The brownie was one of those cheap tasting ones, I'm pretty sure they buy them made (which is not a bad thing but buy the good ones...) and if they make it in house, well, time to change the recipe. Oh, the brownie was also not hot as...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVariety of Ceviche! Definitely options on ceviche and a sampler option. I love thatās they have traditional ceviches but also fusions that some have pineapple. Ricardo, our server, was tvery helpful and attentive and gave us suggestions prior to ordering. We ordered the sampler appetizers and the tequenos were the best. Also ordered the ceviche trio and My friend raved about the Ceviche tropical (ordered it for her) stating the pineapples gave it the touch. The fried fish Jalea was simple but tasty. My sister had the curry ceviche and it was good. The swings at the bar had beachy vibes. The mojitos were made to perfection because not everyone can make a...
