I cannot rate this hostel highly enough.||The staff are always friendly and helpful... The location is perfect being one block from the main square and the facilities are great.||The biggest thing I want to mention though is the experience I had when my suitcase broke...|We were at another hostel to start with, which was rubbish so i found mango, and while moving our luggage here, one of the wheel broke off my suitcase.. I wanted to try and fix it before replacing so I asked the guy at the desk ( who it turned out was the owner) if they had a few tools I could borrow... Not only did he lend me tools, but he came to help me repair it, and when I needed a few bolts to finish the repair, insisted on going off himself to source them for me... And he didn't even charge me!!!|This is one kindest and best examples of customer service I've ever had!!||So to talk more about the joint...|- perfectly clean rooms|- private bathroom with HOT shower|- free breakfast, simple but good.|- lovely atmosphere |- large lounge with TV and Netflix|- Roof sun terrace with loungers, hammocks, chairs and a pool table|- cold beer, coffee and other drinks available on site at good rates|- lives up to the 24hr front desk and English speaking|- great security, you need to be buzzed in by the desk|- best and safest luggage storage we've come across.|- comfy beds||Honestly I could go on forever... Read moreFor the price you pay and compared to other similar hostels in Arequipa, Mango is a brilliant hostel! ||||Hot water shower that works well, good WiFi throughout the hostel including inside the dorm room and on the rooftop, super clean, great breakfast by Peruvian hostel standards (bread, cheese, ham, jam, butter, various fruits, fruit juice, yoghurt drink, unlimited coffee and tea), access to lockers, charging station next to each bed, awesome rooftop bar with hammocks, pool table, and great view (yet far enough from bedrooms not to be noisy), helpful staff, competitive prices for Colca Canyon tours, access to a computer with internet connection, and central location right near the Plaza de Armas. ||||There is also an independently owned cafe in the hostel building selling amazing home-roasted coffee and delicious snacks. ||||Honestly, you can’t ask for more at this price. It is clear that the owners have taken their job very seriously and aim to please. ||||From time to time the WiFi signal isn’t 100% and the hot water shower can be luke-warm at night (very hot during the morning and day though), but these are problems all hostels have in Arequipa. ||||Overall, very impressed and love the rooftop area...
Read moreWe paid twice the price promised on our online booking. When we arrived at the hostel, we showed them our online reservation with the confirmed price (in Spanish and English), but they still refused and demanded more money.||We also had booked a 4-bed dorm room online, but ended up staying in a 8-bed room dorm.||Regarding the staff, the help we got was very mixed. The first we met was so kind, and she tried her best to help with everything from contacting the booking site to recommendations around the city. But another person would just roll his eyes and sneer at us.||||After we got home, we tried contacting both the hostels and booking site (Hotels.com) for a refund. We have not heard from the hostel (yet?), but according to Hotels.com they have been in touch with them. According to them, the hostel states that we where never there - even though we have a receipt from the hostel, stating that we paid too much (in cash), signed by the receptionist. They also advised us to contact our bank, since they have experienced some problems regarding card payments before from this hostel.||||The hostel facilities are okay - but I would definitely not recommend booking, based on the problems regarding...
