Not consistent and disappointing service. Avoid if you can.
Good rooms but the only good customer service we received was from the housekeeping department. They were kind and had high levels of hospitality.
Incident #1 - During our check in, some personal information was shared out loud by the front desk agent which we didn't appreciate. Upon arrival to the room, we received a letter from the manager to reach out to her via the phone or her email if we had any issue or feedback. I appreciated this letter and proceeded to inform the hotel manager via email about our check in experience, sadly we did not hear a response from her.
Incident #2 - I got really sick from having some heavy food. On my last day at the hotel, I went to have breakfast and asked the server if I can have something light as I was on multiple antibiotics. He kept offering me eggs or fruits which I was told to avoid by medical aid. I asked him if he can check with the kitchen if there's something that can be done like boiled chicken and if not that's ok no worries. The cook came to my table and bluntly told me to choose between oatmeal and boiled chicken. His attitude was arrogant and annoyed. Truly disappointing.
Incident #3 - Upon check out I was told to pay for a small toothpaste. Two days prior to that, I had asked for some toothbrushes which the front desk did not have. I asked if they had toothpaste and they gave it to me. The front desk person then quickly asked for a minute and ran to grab some toothbrushes. She swiftly came back with them and kindly stated they are "free of charge". We truly appreciated her for helping us. When checking out, I was told there is a charge for a toothpaste that I needed to pay. And even though I wasn't informed of it I had to pay it still. Then, the front desk stated "I can call her, the person that gave you the toothpaste, if you want from my cellphone. You can talk to her." The person on the phone told me I needed to pay for the toothpaste regardless of. I explained to her that the issue is not monetary but the principle and the ethics behind charging someone without telling them. At the end, the lady understood she failed to communicate that with me which was fine mistakes happen and ultimately removed the charge from my room number. I was standing at the front desk for 10mins over such a trivial thing. If one has an actual issue at this property, I can't even imagine how they would behave in that scenario.
I recommend seeking other options than staying at Los Tambos Hotel Boutique unless you enjoy having a terrible customer service experience daily from both the front desk and the breakfast team.
Update: Manager reached out after I checked out. Not a sincere email and a badly written half a** apology. The issues come...
Read moreWe stayed there for two nights in room on third floor recently. The staff was very helpful. The rooms are very clean. The room was very small. One corner of the rectangle floor plan was cut out so the room is missing a corner. So in order for me to get to the window side of my bed I had to stride over the twin bed. There is no room to leave our suitcases on the floor. So we had to put them in the closet. There is a sewer order from the bathroom. We had to close the door when we are not using. The shower water is insufficient. Having said that, it may well be that all hotels in the city are like that because Ariquipa is in a dry area. On saturday night there was loud music well into the night from outside, probably from nearby Plaza de Armas. The sound insulation between bath rooms next door is not great. But the bath room look new with all tiles. There is a drinking water dispensor in the lobby is addition to two free bottles in the room. So we had unlimited drinking water. We had to leave very early for airport, so the hotel provided us with boxed breakfast, which is apprecited. The price is very low and it is very close to Plaze de Armas. So depending on your priority it may be a very good choice for you. The management did email me after asking for feedback which is also...
Read moreI arrived in Arequipa on Monday afternoon (30 December 2024), and twisted my ankle 5 minutes into my Walking Tour.
I did not get a chance to see any of Arequipa’s attractions or celebrate New Year’s Eve. I stayed indoors for 2 days to heal my swollen ankle.
The team took care of me in the following ways: Moved my luggage from my room on the 4th floor to Ground floor (because the lift was not working) Gave me ice (for my swollen ankle) in the morning, afternoon and night every day from Monday until Thursday Served breakfast in my room on Tuesday and Wednesday (it was so delicious!) Helped me to call LATAM and Copa Airlines for me to change and confirm my flights (I was on hold for a long time on multiple attempts) Advised me on which Tours to take (and arranged for Ruta del Sillar) and restaurants to go to based on my limited mobility
My heartfelt appreciation to everyone who was on duty during my 5-days stay: Milagros, Fiorela, José, Lino, Enrique, Favian, Jhorly, Nadhia & Saly.
They took good care of me and made me feel at home when I was traveling alone and so far...
