Hey, I wanna make an honest rating and tell all you guys what my real-life experience at this restaurant was. We came back from the jungle, from Salvacion that day, so we were exhausted after a 7 hour drive and we were really hungry. So we put our backpacks into the hostel and looked for a beautiful restaurant, which we definitely found with this one. The place has a wonderful view, you can see the whole city and especially when it's dark outside, the view really is spectacular because of all the time lights. But it was also freezingly cold. They had all the windows open and when you sit there, on a rainy day at night, it can get really cold! When the food arrived, we were really frustrated. It wasn't just bad food, it was expensive bad food. We never paid more for a meal than here and it was the worst meal we ever had in all our time in Peru. The vegetables tasted like they came out of a can, the mashed potatoes were too salty and they'd definitely just been bought in a supermarket as a ready-made meal. Half of it was cold and disgusting, and half of it was slightly warm and still very disgusting. But the worst thing about the food was that we were still hungry afterwards. We had one expensive soup for every one of us. We had two full plates that we shared. But after finishing, we paid immediately and went somewhere else, where we still bought two pizzas, because we were still hungry! Please don't go to La Caverne del Oriente, you will regret it... Never ever will I step into this...
Read moreSpoiler alert, it was so exceptional that we ended up going 3 times. We stumbled in one night since it was open later than many other San Blas restaurants. Pleasantly surprised by the cozy but tasteful ambiance, and the upstairs city/mountain views are impressive. One of the biggest menus I’ve seen with huge variety and unique dishes. The quality of the food is what sold me. The trout dishes are incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked, crispy and flavorful potatoes, and the saltado is one of the best I’ve tried. I think the chef is a genius! It’s an open kitchen downstairs, so you can greet the chefs and see how much care they put into the food. The prices are very reasonable, especially compared to the touristy places nearby. This spot is...
