The staff are very friendly and their English is generally good. Other than that, it has been a nightmare staying here. Here's an itemized list:
#1: They are located right next to a rock music school, so good luck sleeping if you are staying here on a weekend, because they absolutely do have parties that make it impossible to sleep. The hotel staff won't warn you that this is going to happen, but at least they're kind enough to offer complimentary earplugs if you complain, not that the earplugs do ANYTHING to keep out the noise.
#2: The "complimentary wifi" might as well not exist. We've now stayed in two completely different parts of the hotel (including room 102, which is located RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE WIFI ROUTER), and can attest to the fact that the Internet is so slow that it takes a solid 30 seconds to load basic text web pages. By far the worst wifi connection of any hotel we've stayed at in Peru... including hotels located in the remote and rural Colca Valley.
#3: The staff do NOT know where tourist activities are in the area, beyond where the main "Plaza de Arms" is. Of course, this won't prevent them from telling you where things are, even if they are completely wrong. We were hoping to go to the Chocolate Museum, so we asked someone at the front desk. Without batting an eye, he pulled out a map and marked exactly where the Museum was. When we arrived at the spot he had marked, we found a tiny chocolate store, with no museum in sight. After wandering around for the next hour, we finally found the museum on our own, a full 3 blocks away from the spot he had marked. This caused us to miss the 11:00 AM class we had planned on taking there, throwing off our entire schedule for the day.

Read moreExceptional service and location Our stay at Casa San Blas was exceptional! This boutique hotel is perfectly located—close enough to all the action of San Blas and Plaza de Armas, yet tucked away from the main road, making it a surprisingly tranquil retreat. The quiet and cozy atmosphere was a welcome escape.
Above and beyond staff The staff couldn't have been more wonderful. They went far above and beyond their call of duty, from providing amazing restaurant recommendations to helping us sort out a half-day tour of Cusco. Their assistance was especially invaluable as we prepared for our four-day Salkantay Trek, providing local insights that made our trip smoother.
Delicious food at the hotel The hotel's lovely breakfast spread of fresh, local fruit, eggs cooked to order, and a generous assortment of meats and cheeses was a perfect start to our days. We were so impressed that, after our trek, we decided to stay another night and have dinner at the hotel. You never expect much from hotel dinners, but we were pleasantly surprised by the high quality and amazing price.
Highest recommendation I would 100% stay here again, and I plan to recommend it to all my...
Read moreWould not stay again. The hotel was reasonably priced, spacious rooms. But our room was right next to the lobby and share a window with the lobby, making for a very loud night. They also were pretty sleezy. One issue that we felt slightly perturbed by was they had wine sitting on the counter upon our arrival, but no list of a minibar adjacent to the wine or in the hotel manual. We opened it and the next day were notified of the charge; upon complaining that we had no idea it was not free (they had free water and chocolate in the room!) they showed us the minibar list that was tucked away in the cabinet (not next to any food). I'd like to think this was by mistake, but we felt pretty tricked and did not feel like the hotel responded in a fair way. The front desk said that there was a mistake with the location of the minibar list, but that we would have the pay the cost of the mistake. Save yourself some sleeze and...
