Our trip to Lima Peru was a 20 hour ordeal. Some say its the journey and not the destination, but that saying is farthest from the truth. After suffering through airline food, over priced airport food and bland hotel food, we finally got a chance to taste what all the hype was about. Our first meal was at Tanta de Larcomar. Although highly rated, I had my doubts as it sits in a mall nestled in a hillside overlooking the Pacific. But oh was I sooooooo wrong. Let me first start with the service. Although English is not widely spoken, our server was versed and was super friendly. We ordered a sampling plater and asked about the ceviche. He said there was no better in Lima. He was wrong.... its the best I've had to date from anywhere! Large chunks of super fresh, I'm guessing snapper, in a lime vinaigrette. The platter was a work of art. It featured cow's heart cooked to order (medium rare) and a variety of potato dishes that checked every box. Perfect setting, perfect service, and perfect food .... perfect score. Thank you to everyone at Tanta. You lifted the broken spirits of two weary travellers and set the bar high for the rest of our trip. Stay tuned .... there are five more days!

I was recommended by a mother and daughter from Lima to come to Tanta. We saw there were a few locations and there was one that overlooks the beach and decided to come here! We started off with the ceviche catch of the day. It was so fresh and we loved it. We ordered the risotto with prawns and the lomo saltado. The risotto with prawns had amazing flavor and great texture, not mushy. We asked for the lomo saltado to be medium rare and when it came there was almost no pink. The waiter must have heard me wrong but they fixed it with zero issues and genuinely made sure I was happy with my food. I knocked off a star because the desserts were not very good. They came in plastic cups and didn’t seem like they put the same amount of thought in their dishes in their pastries. Overall the food was tasty and we left so stuffed

Ok soooo where do I start?! I don’t even really write reviews unless it’s remarkable food or bad service, etc.. I was perfectly fine have an amazing evening with my family and I walk in with my family for a nice evening dinner and the disrespect that we got was unbelievable! Service was HORRIBLE!!!!! Put a straight up sour feeling in my stomach and embarrassed me in front of my grandmother and entire family. Management (Carla) was horrible I honestly don’t even know what else to say. If it wasn’t for my grandmother being here I would have walked out after not getting any service waiting over 25 minutes sitting at the table, while 2 ladies walked in while I was sitting down they got served beers and salad after 15 minutes of them sitting down? Enough said the disrespect was just like wow… my dad wanted to stay so I respected that. The food was ok, nothing special to be honest, more of just a better ambiance in the restaurant than anything not the food nor the service most importantly. I give it 2 stars due to the fact the manager “Carla” knew that this was very wrong and she sent over 2 desserts out of pity again if i my grandma and dad were not there this wouldn’t even of happened. I hope anyone that goes you make sure you get the RESPECT you deserve as a customer, bottom line.

I want to assume that it is not because of the color of my skin but I honestly would not be surprised if it was. I live in the US and visit Peru at least once a year to visit my family and friends. Tanta has been one of my favorite places to come and eat when I want to treat my family out on a nice dinner or lunch. My family and I grew up in the not so touristy part of Lima called La Victoria. It is obvious that we are not part of the the elite class of Limeños and for that I have often experienced discrimination in many different parts of Lima. I want to make this public not because I think that Gaston or his brand are a bunch of elitist (which they are) but because it blows my mind that this continues to happen as they make millions of the back of working class people. I want to be treated with respect and appreciation when I decide to dine in one of the most affluent neighborhoods of Lima even if I may not belong to that social class. I hope this message gets attention because it is my goal that this stops NOW. Please get all of your staff training to treat all people the same, regardless of their skin color, gender, religion or if they are foreigners or not. With much RESPECT, Cult Ant

This is the highly rated expensive Restaurant in Larcomar shopping mall owned by Chef Gaston Acurio, recommended by many but doesn’t live up to the expectations. The waiting time to get in there was not bad, but once inside, the restaurant waiting for getting someone to bring the menu cart was close to 35 minutes, I had to call the waiter to get their attention. Ordering wasn't bad we had what we ordered at a decent time, except for my drink which never happened. The tequeños de lomo were excessively salty, the Milanesa was greasy as can be, and the maracuya drink was served on broken glass! Picture attached I am disappointed with this restaurant, my experience was awful.

Understood that it was a busy day as we had to wait for 30mins to get a table. 5-6 waiters/waitresses stood around doing??? Nothing and it took 10-15min or longer if we didn’t raise a hand. A table didn’t set until later which had nothing to do with a busy kitchen. Food came after 30mins which was told earlier (so it was expected). Arroz con pollo came up with too salty and chicken was a little overcooked. Tallarín saltado was good but the lomo also was a little overcooked. We come here every single time we visit Lima and this time was the 7th time (we live in SEA). We have to say it was a wrong time to come.
