Visited in August 2024. Peru. Lima.
Located in the five-star Hilton hotel, Social boasts a stunning interior with high ceilings and a beautiful bar in the centre of the room. The restaurant offers Peruvian cuisine with a European twist, and also serves breakfast.
Food We sampled several appetizers and main courses. The grilled octopus with shrimp gyoza was cooked to perfection, boasting a smoky grill flavor while remaining tender inside and perfectly crisp on the outside. The gyoza were also excellent, though I'm not sure if the combination is ideal, each ingredient was delicious on its own. I also recommend trying the scallop ceviche. The raw scallop was incredibly fresh and practically melted in your mouth, with the sauce adding a delicious kick. The pumpkin and truffle ravioli were tasty, although the truffle flavour was subtle - without the name, I wouldn't have known they were truffle-infused. The buttery sauce was outstanding, with a smooth texture, subtle sweetness, and a hint of browned butter. Everything we tried was delicious, showcasing the high quality of the food.
Service The waiters spoke a little English, which made ordering easier. However, for a restaurant of this caliber, the service was underwhelming. Our waiter forgot several items we ordered, including my cocktail. Dirty dishes remained on the table for an extended period.
Conclusion This is a fantastic restaurant offering local cuisine with a European touch. The food is truly exceptional. With a few improvements to the service, it would be a perfect dining experience. The prices are commensurate with the location - a five-star hotel. Overall, I recommend Social. You're sure to enjoy your...
Read moreThe restaurant is inside the Hilton hotel. Had a great time with my friend. Everything we ate was delicious and light. Service was beyond exceptional. Our server Thomas always had a smile on his face. He fixed our drinks (Inka drink: sangria like drink) when we told him it didn't deliver. He took it, had them fixed, and tasted much much better. Our table was always clean, prompt removal of our empty plates by the other server(Sorry, I don't remember your name).
Decor: laid back, elegant, a little darkness for romance.
Food: Causa, don't miss it. The Leche the Tigre brought back memories of the first time I had Peruvian Food at CVI.CHE 105 in Miami when they first opened.
Razor clam: it has been on my bucket list to try, and they didn't disappoint.
Octopus: Light, healty, and tasty.
Price: For this healthy tasty meal, we had to only cost us barely $80 ( not Soles) for 2 people was mind-blowing.
I don't understand how I've paid $$$ and up for 1 or 2 people at some 4 stars to Michelin Star restaurants in the U.S.A. that don't deliver.
My lovely to happy ( tipsy) friend had to pick up the tab 😂 when she won at guessing the Soles conversation to U.S dollars for our meal. Don't feel bad for her, I won the last 2 meals conversation cost😭.
And thanks, chef! We will be back! The octupus ink pasta is...
Read moreMy wife and I were staying in the hotel for our anniversary before flying home. We decided to have dinner in the restaurant downstairs--Social. It was wonderful. Alex was an attentive server, and the food was delicious. We had a ceviche sampler for an appetizer. It was flavorful and beautiful in appearance. My wife ordered the chef's special--which I can never write out correctly. It was various meats and potatoes cooked with hot rocks as the Incas once cooked their foods. I ordered the catch of the day. All the food was tasteful, and the menu contained a variety of traditional Peruvian, fusion, and more North American/European style dishes. Overall, we were...
