I have been going here for 10 years, but never again. Recently the food has changed quality and is low quality, I guess to increase profits.
My girlfriend got food poisoning after eating Tapa, the meet was old and smelt bad, I complained to chef as was told it's fresh sir. Which was obviously a complete lie, maybe the meat was water buffalo not beef, its was strong taste and tangy, she always eats Tapa and said this the worse one she every tasted, and stated it was nearly double the price of local places owned by locals for Tapa.
I ordered an English breakfast, the pork sausage was pink inside and not cooked properly, the baked beans were watery and tasted really cheap and the bread was borderline stale and going hard. I explained the problems to staff, but was told its normal for the pork sausage to be light pink/ looking bloody, as its lightly fried pork sausage. Next day both me and my girlfriend had bad stomach cramps and food poisoning, we lost 3 days of out holiday being sick in bed.
This places charges over the average for food, 10 dollars for a cheap breakfast, and expensive compared to other places locally.
If they have more than a few customers, you wait over 1 hour for food, and it's rushed and disappointing.
When I explained the issues with the food, the staff didnt seen to care at all, looking at me like a was a homeless man trying it on, staff only worried about the 1000 peso bill for 2 inedible meals, we could not finish as they were disgusting ... Stating the chef says everything is fresh, so you are wrong, I told them taste or smell the food, but they refused and handed me the bill..hmmmm, I wonder why...
The staff started chatting to each other staring over at us giving dirty stares and a few giggles exchange between them, making us feel unwanted and uncomfortable as customers.
This place used to be excellent over the years, my number 1 spot, I always recommend to people, but service is now poor and long waiting times, and they clearly using cheaper low quality stock, and staff attitude stinks and clearly only concerned about payments and the food quality has suffered.. I now tell people avoid this place, many other better options in AC, not point losing days of your vacation being crippled in pain with food poisoning.
I will never return here, after being a loyal customer for over 10 years. What upset my the most was the denial of the staff the food was not cooked properly and the Tapa meat smelt bad, like going rotten. Very strong smell, definitely going bad, then the staff giving me dirty looks like a was a crazy person. I paid the 1000 peso and left.as I not want confrontation from staff and the chef.
Clearly the customer is not right here, and staff not care about you, they even expected a tip for the inedible food, they offered no replacement meal and no discount. This places is overstaffed but moves at a snails pace, many waiteress who are standing around chatting with each other,I literally had the wave my arms in the air and shout over to them, as they so engulfed in conversation and not paying attention to the customers, eventhough the places was packed with people waiting for their food. I see one table leave when, they had been waiting over 1.5 hours for a basic meal and drinks.
I can only assume food quality control here anymore no longer exists, and they using old meat claiming it fresh
Please avoided this place unless you want to roll the dice, potentially ending...
Read moreAfter reading Williams review about the great customer service I'm forced to comment. Tequila Reef has been my number one restaurant since my first visit in 2014. It's even saved as my favorite place on maps and I frequently dine in and have food delivered. So to write a negative review about a place I like so much is heartening.
The customer service used to be great but my last two visits I've left dissatisfied with service. It's ironic that Williams review response says the management "works hard" to live up to customer expectations but that hasn't been my experience with my last two visits and request for a manager.
On my last visit, the staff chose to let me and my three guests leave without ordering, than to accommodate an extra lime in my margarita.
If the staff was empowered to meet customer expectations like the review response suggested, my guests and I would have ordered more drinks and food, but Instead we all went to Kokomos.
You guys have awesome staff and great food. It's a shame you would lose thousands of revenue and a loyal customer over an extra lime. 😔
Update and Reply to the OWNERS comment:
Dear OWNER: Thank you for letting me know you're not in the business of providing customer service like you mentioned in previous review replys. I was completely wrong thinking that the management would provide a better business mentally than the staff and am actually shocked at this reply as a business owner myself.
The cadillac margarita is 500pp each. I make it with half the cointreau BTW because I like mine not so sweet.. the lime would be 10pp. Total for 2 drinks is 1000 pp. That's a 1% cost EXCLUDING half the cointreau used. I don't understand the business case that would allow you to forgo current and future sales over 10 pp....
None the less, thank you for the reply. I Unfortunately don't like to be greedily charged small amounts for minor services. It's the principle for me especially when I spend so much at your establishment.
Maybe this is something to think about when you say you are striving for excellent...
Read moreIF you dared to venture to this part of Angeles City to eat a meal here, CONGRATULATIONS. You found the best Mexican food on this side of the pacific. I kid you not. All the Makati hype cannot compare to the combination of quality of ingredients used and the Kapampangan chef skills that deliver the most mouth watering Mexican cantina experience EVER. I'm talking about their burritos. In fact, if you ever want to experience a burrito like super authentic Mexican style, THIS IS THE PLACE. I've brought Mexican American nationals here and made them CRY IN TEARS to reminisce over their grandma's flavorful cooking back home.
Now that being said, this isn't 5-star dining per se, but I do have to rave about their Mexican entrees. The place is a bit rough around the edges and the ambiance screams like an American Bald Eagle that landed on a beach in Mexico in the 1970's. The TV's are old, cell phone signal is hard to get, wi-fi here is iffy and sometimes the debit card machine works and sometimes it doesn't. Let's not speak much about the bathrooms either, even if it's clean and badly needs like some updating.
Now there are some items on the menu here that are worth totally avoiding and sometimes I'm surprised with the quality of other items here. Filipino food is a mild 3/5 here. I would have to say breakfast here is also very hearty and you will not be disappointed with it all and for the price, forget Mcdonalds, come here instead if you booked a hotel nearby.
Can you bring your executive guests here? If they're a bit more liberal, I'd say YES. If they're too conscientious, just order them some take out. Kids? hmm. Not too late at night.
Downsides: Parking is EXTREMELY difficult. If you bring a car, you're lucky to get a spot. It's along a busy street and drivers here on this street drive like Maniacs. You step out the door, look both ways! Especially if you had a...
