There are a handful of Don Henrico's in Baguio and this one is my favorite so far. I like going to Don Henrico's because the cozy atmosphere and friendly staff and I get to sit as long as I want during my me-times with a book or when I feel like doing a bit of work outside of the house. One of the things I like about this particular branch is that the leather seats that line the left side of the restaurant is not as high as those in other branches. I'm not a particularly tall person making the seats thus comfortable for my size. The seats are also not tilted forward making it easier for me to lounge, read and eat at the same time. I know it seems like a small thing (pardon the pun) but I appreciate being able to sit comfortably while I eat.
The food here never fails me. I love eating here because the food served is always hot (sometimes I burn myself, but that's my bad) and the taste, textures, flavors are constant (I like to order particular sets of meals).
Today specifically, I am here right now in the restaurant as I write this review. I haven't taken my seat yet and I was offered to try a new set of dishes I haven't tried before. I was quite hesitant since I am not an adventurous person, in travel or food or experience. I only allow but very few people to influence me to try something different. But what the heck, right? I've been enjoying their food for years. I was willing to try something new despite being alone.
Lo and behold, I loved it. I had the Fish and Fries (feeling a bit British today given the overcast weather; tho they kinda missed out on naming it Fish and Chips instead, but I think there'd be some confusion from those unawares of the cultural differences between our English forefathers). The fish was crispy on the outside and smooth and kinda creamy on the inside. The fries were the same. I was quite surprised at the portion though. I thought it would be smaller, like it was good for 1 person. But it was quite a lot. It also came with a free beverage (iced tea or coffee). I tried to pair it with the Potato Cheese Creamy soup. The soup was very creamy and hot, had to wait a while before I could continually enjoy it.
That's just one of the many dishes I've tried here in Don Henrico's - my favorite Italian getaway anywhere...
Read morePoor cleanliness. For a restaurant that had stand for a long time. This Don Henricos , the Comfort Room is a disaster. It has a common CR for male and female. When i just walk in right aftet a crew of the resto had used it i was dismay. The male urinal is out of order and the toilet bowl is not flushed. Urine mark is on the toilet seat and the floor near it is so wet. There is no hand washing soap and the the sink still have a tissue and food scrap. To may dismay when i walk out in the dinning table the manage is seating with his feet on tne chair while holding something at the back of the menu. I would like to call the managent of the restaurant to check on the restaurant sanitary maintenance and its management practice. I tried to check if there is alcohol to replace the absemce of the hand soap but i found nothing. Take note this is in the heat of our fight to prevent the spread of NCOV 19 and other food born parasite that can cause illness to human. Shame on this restaurant who does not practice food safety in the operation. If i would be back in bagio I would check on this resto to see of they have improve. Or better then have them reported on the...
Read moreStopped here for breakfast and it offered a pretty close approximation of a Western breakfast, which is what I was craving. Cash or credit cards accepted. Staff is friendly and attentive. Primarily known for pizzas and other entrees they do offer a few breakfast options, mostly Filipino favorites but a few Western options.
Ordered a ham and cheese omelette and was given the option of rice or bread. I chose bread, which in this case meant lightly toasted and buttered whole-grain style bread. Not bad! Omelette wasn't impressive but the taste was basically on-target and I was happy. I also added a waffle with bacon to the order. The waffle was also lackluster but adequate and the bacon paired nicely with the omelette. This is not a breakfast you'll always remember but it satisfied a deep longing I had for something more Western than Filipino and I appreciate that!
Hot tea was basic but fine. Coffee, juices, soft drinks and beer also available. Staff was...
