The resto was rated 4,5 at google and 3.5 on Facebook. Since we have a little problem with the type of food since we came from the middle east...it was highly suggested to us ..we are not sure if it is really certified halal but we took the chance.
Going to the place we go with our feet using waze since we are around the vicinity...found it in less than 10 minutes. The resto is like a basement set up.....pastry section is in front ... and the main hall was seen...the set up was quite a fine dining hall...but since there are a lot of people..it looked like a fastfood section...the lights are on dim mode....so the waiter guided us towards the available table. ..the waiter gave us paper..long bond paper with a font of 10..since i can't read it...with dim light...we just ordered the food that they recommended as HALAL...asking if it is too spicy and if they can minimized the spiciness of the food...they can not adjust the food mixture...what can we do .....
Food was served on a morrocan inspired plate....on the Mutton and the Lamb Stew and the Duck Flakes with Laing was served on a plate ... Meat was soft the way it was cooked...the mutton with a sweet taste with sidings of taboolah on a small sauce plate..approximately 30ml container ,full of onion not parsley..(imagine ..we are in baguio..were i expect parsley is one of their product)...and a fita bread cut into halves...with a price almost 700.. Lamb stew couple of 4 pcs of meat with few slices of carrots, potato and bell pepper..that was too spicy...so needed to order yogurt to lower down the spicy taste of the meat...with a price of almost 700... Lastly..the duck flakes with laing and a strand of hair....,đ€đ€đ€đ€đ€...the flakes..i don't know how they prepared, cooked and served it...its like they dont want us to feel the presence of the duck...it becomed fibers not flakes ...do they know the difference between flakes and fibers.... Upon complaining of the hair strand included on the food .they immediately changed it and requested us to wait... in fairness they didn't argue much of it...with the price of almost 700 But they started to act a little bit of rudeness...which is not a good impact on clients specially if you are serving food....food is life...
With that not so spectacular food...with a service that doesn't consider their clients expectations (if your clients are from...
Read moreHaving lunch here was the highlight of my last trip. The food was exceptional - this is a hotel restaurant, so one will notice that the attempt to make the selection as wide as possible is clear as soon as the menu is browsed. They serve Filipino, American, Spanish, Mediterranean, Asian, and Italian dishes across different course types (appetizers / tapas, soups, salads, pastas, sandwiches, mains, desserts). The beverage selection is, in my experience, one of the most extensive in the city center area.
The quality of its dishes makes one remember that this place is not just a restaurant that coexists and rides on the novelty of the hotel being the oldest in the city, but clearly strives to be at the top of its game (and succeeds at doing so). The service is much faster than usual, too - amazing given that we arrived at peak lunch hour!
The atmosphere is what one would expect from a very old restaurant sans allergens and dilapidated interiors: dimly-lit and sophisticated, polished wood everywhere, and scents of created dishes wafting continuously from the kitchen. Everything was well-maintained and spotless! The walls are adorned with art shots celebrating Baguio City throughout time.
What made this place my new favorite is how much the staff - from security to the waiting and kitchen staff - were so much into dogs! So many of them have approached our table just to greet our dogs, and they even proactively brought over water in a metal doggie bowl. This treatment is something that made Hill Station my new favorite dining spot in the city.
Things to note when visiting:
I am unsure if dedicated parking is available; I took street parking which is available right in front of the restaurant / hotel (Casa Vallejo) entrance. This is paid parking at PHP 50.00 for 2 hours and additional payment for an additional hour. Max parking duration is 3 hours. The place accepts cash, major credit cards, and local debit cards as payment. I am unsure about GCash. Pets are allowed only in a specific part of the restaurant, so please do not expect to sit wherever you want. As with most establishments in the city, this is not an air conditioned restaurant. A 10% service charge is added to one's bill, which is very much worth it. Tipping on top of this is...
Read moreI went to the restaurant to eat merienda. The restaurant is almost full but there were available tables so we got one. I waited for a few minutes for the waiters to give me a menu. Several waiters had seen us seated but nobody even bothered approaching us so I raised my hand and requested for the menu. After several minutes more, a waiter came with a menu only to inform us that the restaurant is closed. The waiter even told me: Hindi ko nga po alam paano kayo nakapasok kasi closed po kami. I told him I came from upstairs because I am a guest of Casa Vallejo (the hotel where the restaurant is located). Service here is đđ» unlike before na talagang fine dining ang experience. I wonder what happened.
So I went back in the morning as our room has free breakfast. I went at around 9:00am. I was told by Casa Vallejo front desk officer that our stubs had been taken to the restaurant and that we just have to say our room and the name of the person under which our room is reserved. We went down and I did as told only to be informed that we are in the waiting list. I went back to the FDO to confirm and was told that we have a reservation but only for 15 minutes. I asked what time was our reservation: wala naman po. đ as i havenât taken breakfast and we had to go up and down the stairs several times, i had to opt to have our breakfast delivered to the room. Itâs 10am and our breakfast hasnât arrived yet. I AM NOT GOING TO RETURN HERE. I had much expectation for the restaurant because I have dined here before but now I really do not know what happened to...
