Food taste: delicious, can't deny that. Server was super nice.
BUT OH SOOOO OVERPRICED!
The host sat us and asked if we wanted bottled water, in my head I thought this is odd, they don't serve drinking water for free? -- so we both got bottled water -- JUST FYI -- this is 99.00 per bottle! Surprise when you see your bill!!! I pictured nature's spring. So, just a warning for you who want to try this place. I have never drank such expensive water, and I didn't see other tables tricked into drinking this water either. Wait was long, understandable, everything was made to order I guess.
We (me and my husband) were not super hungry and we didn't feel like eating pho, so we opted for the a la carte dish with fine print (not so fine print actually) that says serves 2-4 people, we got the curry and the rice paper wrapped things for starter and rice for the side.
Wraps were good, peanut sauce was excellent. But the disappointment started when the main dish came out. The curry was served in a medium bowl. A bowl I could cup the bottom of with both my hands. THERE IS NO WAY this is good for 2-4 people, at least if that was not written on the menu, we would not have expected a bigger serving. Not only was the bowl small for 2 people, the meat were backbone scraps and drumstick! To paint the picture for you, the meat I managed to gather off those bones was less than what I would get from a small drumstick, no exaggeration, my husband had a little more than I did. My husband is american I have never seen him clean the backbone of a chicken ever. This time he did. The bowl had probably 50% bones! The taste was excellent, very delicious! but 700 for a small bowl of curry filled with bones is a rip-off. For 700 at least take the bones out and no backbones. There is literally no meat on those. I felt like all the meat was used for the pho and we got all the bones. I know Filipino servings are small, but not this small especially for the price and when your menu clearly states how many people it is good for.
we were only given one set of silverware placed inside the curry bowl, my husband used the fork I used the spoon.
Our server was very nice, had no problem with the sevice, the amount of food or bones we got was not her fault.
This is not the place for you if you are hungry and you are a big eater. This is for people who love instagram and just meeting up for the photos and conversation or maybe just for the pho. I can't speak about the pho. The bowls is the same size as...
Read more[Feb 2024] So it turns out that we were only able to return to Cebu 4 years after our last trip and of course, on the itinerary was a long-delayed visit to Phat Pho in Ayala Terraces. Well, I'm happy to report that things are exactly the same (but maybe it's also because we ordered the exact same things as our last visit: Pho Special, Chicken Satay, Sweet & Sour Fish, Shrimp Summer Rolls, and Calamansi Soda). Great food, good service, excellent ambience...but one thing I could add which I failed to mention before: their washrooms were immaculate. And I surmise (and hope I'm right) that their kitchen must be pretty well-maintained, as well. One well-deserved star added back for hygiene and sanitation best practices.
[Aug 2019] As a former host to Vietnamese refugees, Palawan has its fair share of Vietnamese restaurants but Phat Pho Vietnamese Restaurant in Ayala Center, Cebu has them all beat! Their pho broth was excellent, not too salty nor sweet, with really tender melt-in-your-mouth meat slices and delicious meatballs that were just heavenly. The sweet and sour fish was fresh and flavorful (although they really should stop serving parrot fish -- have to deduct 1 star) and the shrimp spring rolls were very well prepared. The surroundings were tastefully appointed and well-maintained, with sufficient lighting and high ceilings. Service was excellent, with the usual fluent English-speaking Cebuano servers who were all superbly trained (except for the couple of service trainees they had who understandably were still a bit nervous dealing with difficult customers). All in all, definitely a place that deserves a second (or 3rd, or 4th, ..., ad...
Read moreMy wife and I had a sumptuous lunch at Phat Pho and here is my take on our overall experience.
PROS: -The restaurant is really clean -Servers are attentive and can be called on easily for orders and requests -I may sound partisan but I like Pho and this restaurant serves them the way I like it -The restaurant's interior design is great too. -Toilets are clean and decent -Accessible to the general public as this restaurant is located inside the mall -Parking spaces are available and provided by the mall -Wifi can be accessed for free and provided by the mall - GoWifi -Food is served in less than 20mins - or maybe because I ordered those that need less cooking time -Billing and payment is fast too. You don't need to wait for a long time to bill out. Major credit cards are accepted here
CONS: -I was hoping that drinks purchased outside can be brought in the restaurant but since according tot he server who approached me - this is a standard restaurant policy - I did not argue anymore -Chopsticks are available as part of the table utensils though I feel like they are longer than normal and I struggled using them. I was hoping they are as long as the usual wooden chopstick's length -We were served with a bunch of sauces even if we did not order anything that may need it
The last time we went here had been ages ago so it was time for us to try it again and it never failed to get our fill of Vietnamese cuisine. We would definitely come back again for another taste of Vietnam in our next food adventure.
MUST TRY: These three dishes in the...
