Kawayanan Grill is a great place if you're looking for cheap but scrumptious food! We've eaten here on our first day and as well as our last day in Coron. The food is so good! On our first try eating here, we tried their sinigang na hipon solo, mind you, SOLO. We expected a small bowl since it's solo but NO!! WE GOT A BIG BOWL that was good for 3-4 persons! I was so shocked at their solo serving I had to ask the server if that was really their SOLO serving, and it really was! It was so good! We also ordered Sizzling Mixed Seafood which had swuid, shrimp, and fish with bell peppers. On our second time eating we ordered their seafood platter which consisted of a clam, squids, shrimps, a crab and one lapu-lapu steamed fish. It also had lato (which is a type of edible seaweed) in the middle. And then we had the Crocodile Sisig which was awesome! We asked our server if it was crocodile caught in Coron, turns out it was from Puerto Princesa and they shipped it to Coron. Speaking of our server, I have to mention how nice he was and very very accommodating! It was my mother's birthday and usually they sing Happy Birthday to the celebrant, unfortunately the rest of the staff were very busy and everyone had tables to wait on but our server; Kuya Jona, single-handedly walked out with a dessert (Leche Flan) with a candle and sang solo! It made our day since he was so nice and his gave his best effort to sing...
Read moreGood food, but the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced in the Philippines. Went for lunch one day and waited over an hour despite being the only people there. We then went in for breakfast the next day and were again the only two people in the entire restaurant. We turned up an hour and a half before our airport shuttle to allow us plenty of time to account for their slow service. We ordered an omelette and french toast (quick to make you would have thought). 30 minutes go by and my fiancé is finally served his omelette. Another 10 minutes go by and my French toast is nowhere to be seen. We ask the waitress (who was standing there on her phone the entire time) to check on my order. Another 10 minutes go by and we ask the servers again how long it is going to take, when the bartender tells us it will be another 10-15 minute wait. At this point we decide to leave. There was no apology from anyone for the wait, or for forgetting our order. I still cannot understand how a restaurant can justify taking an hour to dip some bread in egg and fry it when we were the only...
Read moreIn a month travelling in the Philippines this might be our worst restaurant experience. We wanted to enjoy a last Filipino meal in Coron before heading back home but we are really disappointed.
we ordered our drinks & food , waitress came back to tell us one dish wasn’t available (which isn’t a problem) - 1 minute later a waiter « threw » a plat of sisig mushrooms on our table. We didn’t received our drinks yet, we had no plates, no rice … We had to ask for our beers, they had forgotten. We then had to wait for almost 10 minutes for all the dishes to come out of the kitchen… one by one. Waiters were busy clearing another table and weren’t hearing the kitchen telling the food was ready. In the end I just went to collect the remaining plate from the kitchen myself.
Beside the octopus coconut sisig that was ok, the rest wasn’t really tasty. Rice was overcooked (didn’t even know that is possible), mushroom sisig is « just a can of mushrooms with garlic on top », noodles were untasty and small portion. And we never received the calamansi juice...
