Happy home restaurant in El Nido might truly be living up to its name. It did not just satisfy our appetite but filled me too with nostalgia for the time when we were in Europe. Our orders arrived after more than half an hour (There were 12 of us by the way and it was a great time for conversations) and the portion of food on their big plate was more than we expected. But beyond that, their food is really delightful and is too good for its price. The Bolognese and seafood pasta, pan-fried, and schnitzel chicken has a taste that brought back memories of France and Germany. Their french fries has a fresher taste, not oily, and is way better than Jollibee. As commented by one of our friends at the dinner table, the chef possesses a rare gift of knowing the right blend of seasonings and spices to achieve a harmonious taste. Indeed, those Europeans who occupied all the tables upstairs must have found a home that satisfies their palate. Furthermore, their iced tea, which tasted unique and flavorful, was prepared differently. Our dinner experience was one of those that makes me unmindful of the time and place. Serene atmosphere with warm-and-welcoming service that has been beautifully combined with MASSIVE tasty dishes.
On our first visit we ordered the Filipino style ceviche called Kinilaw (which isn't on their menu but is on their outside food wall, and we were still able to order it - 200p), seafood spaghetti and chicken adobo.
Following our visit to Happy Home we have since tried other Kinilaw from El Nido-based restaurants and we can confidently say Happy Home makes the best.
We were so impressed with their cooking we wanted to round the evening up with some dessert. Unfortunately, they didn't have all the ingredients at the time to make their mango pancake flambe that. So we decided to go back and try our luck another night and it was worth the wait.
Whatever you're imagining when you read mango pancake flambe, erase that image and picture a humongous sponge cake topped with sweet juicy mango and a generous covering of syrupy sauce and sprinkles of sugar and cinnamon. Please note that this dessert is more than enough for two!
We would highly recommend this place to anybody...
Read moreAbsolutely exceptional. One of our favourite restaurants in all of SE Asia and definitely in the Philippines and El Nido. We ate here every day once we discovered it and even had our Christmas meal here. The staff were extremly friendly and kind - we had a dispute with our tuc tuc driver that dropped us to the restaurant which they helped us resolve and stuck up for us. On our last day they also gave us dessert and smoothies which was so generous and kind! The food is outstanding - the flavours are delicious, everything is fresh and the portions are extremely generous. Every dish we tried was absolutely delicious. We especially loved the tuna steak and noodles. The smoothies and desserts are also incredible! The value for money is beyond exceptional. I honestly could not recommend this place enough - I wouldnt eat anywhere else in el Nido! Thank you so much for making our trip to el Nido...
