The menu is confusing and bland as hell. There were not many selections and they gave us two separate menus one brunch although it was 8 pm. I ordered falafel pumpkin thinking it would include hummus… but it didn’t and so it was dry and bland. I asked if I could get a little hummus to dip my falafel but they refused. My date ordered ordered chicken orzo, and it was decent but not very filling. They also brought us this kinda cheap bread and olive oil after we had sat for about 7 minutes. Usually you would have that out immediately… and when it came it was two little measly dry bread that was probably the kind they use super enriched flour to make. Very basic and the presentation made it appear like we were getting stiffed on free bread ! Never filled our water glasses. Left feeling hungry. I’m going next door to happiness bar to order a falafel with hummus.
Oh and before we came in we asked what kind of food do they serve and they said “Asian”. But the menu consisted of burgers, Indian food, and random stuff that may be middle eastern? So, nothing really made sense. But the food itself was decent. It wasn’t like a full meal. More of an houre’ dourve .
And the table was small and very tight. And when I went to take my first bite of hummus-less falafel it slipped off my plate when I went to fork the hard dry sucker.
I don’t even know if they have dessert. They never bothered to ask… but I hear the dessert next door is the fluffiest in town. Glad I experienced this unique food. Someone put a lot of love into the ingredients… but I won’t be coming back anytime soon… or...
Read moreBeen wandering the busy streets of El Nido for quite a while when this place caught my attention. At first it seemed to be just like the usual restu you will pass by with the crew calling out your attention to dine. And then you seat yourselves wondering what could be different in this one? I'm not an expert who knows different cuisines, but scanning through the menu gave me the excitement that this maybe something new. It's something that you will seldomly find especially in these streets where restaurants offer almost the same foods. My wife chose Beef Caldereta Pasta. It was my first time to have seen it in a menu. It is a combination of a well loved Filipino dish and my cravings for pasta. Honestly, i would have ordered a cup of rice with it. The combination of its flavorful cheese, with strong beef taste is unforgetable. I eat almost anything that is served to me, and if something passes my taste buds that is really exceptional, it stays. And truly, with the name itself "Tales of the Islands" the experience here is...
Read moreI am disappointed. Another place in El Nido having problems with the service. I ordered a matcha latte first, while ordering the waitress asked me if I prefer with milk other than cow's milk so I confirmed that I prefer oatmilk. Only when paying did it turn out that it costs 50 pesos more (while paying I was told that there is info about it in the menu, I didn't see it, the waitress could have warned me about it). I was ready to place my order however, being practically the only person in the restaurant (there was another single person who had already received her order) no one approached me. I tried to make eye contact with the waiter but he chose to avoid it and return to gossiping with the other staff members. So I got up and went to pay. I pointed out that no one approached me so I don't even understand what they charge 10% of the service for, I was answered with a laugh. No professionalism. Across the street in a more modest place I ordered delicious food and was...
