Cowrie Cove at Shangri-La Mactan, Cebu — Restaurant in Lapu-Lapu

We hosted a group dinner at Cowrie Cove last July 2024 and it went great. Service was top-notch. All 24 of us felt VIP treatment as we were served and assisted. Jefrie, Jovel, and Mike were the staffs assigned to us and they went above and beyond to assist us throughout the evening. From our arrival as organizers, they were quick on their feet to help us carry some giveaways and even help us set them up inside the Captain’s Cabin. Jefrie proactively initiated reviewing our pre-orders and going through everything we needed for the dinner and even our mini program. Jovel was very particular with taking note of which person had what allergy and double checked everything before serving the food. And Mike was very considerate and observant and would assist any guest even before he was asked to. Whenever we gave any of them specific instructions like letting us know once we’ve reached a certain number of drinks, we didn’t have to remind them to give updates as they would be the one to approach us organizers. Even after the restaurant closed, they helped us transfer to the bar and prepared everything we needed and made sure to endorse us to their co-workers stationed at the bar.

Food was great as expected of a Shangri-la restaurant. The standouts for me were the chicken salad which was refreshing along with the steak from the meat platter which was cooked just right. Unfortunately, I couldn’t try most of the seafood because of an allergy but I’m glad that even as a seafood restaurant, they offer a variety of options for meats and vegetables.

Ambience is great, although it’s better to eat early in the afternoon so you can appreciate the view. Our group had the privacy we needed since we reserved the Captain’s Cabin.

I just got home in the US and I HAVE to give a shoutout to our server Jessica. If the food here was bad, which was not the case, Jessica’s impeccable world-class service would’ve still prompted me to give this place 5 stars. Shangrila needs to give her the recognition she deserves. We were a family of 4 (2 small kids) who dined in for dinner on 6/23/24. Jessica immediately noticed (I’m betting she’s a Mom herself) that my 4 y o daughter was drowsy and tired. She recommended that we be transferred to a different seating that has the sofa. Bc I started carrying my daughter on my lap and she suggested that I put her down and lay her flat. She additionally gave my table a mosquito repellent. Which I happily applied.

Now for the food, it was great!! Thank God! lol. This restaurant and experience actually “saved” my overall feeling about the resort. The ambiance was 10/10. The seafood platter was amazing.

I had an incredible experience at Cowrie Cove at Shangri-La Mactan. The nighttime ambiance overlooking the beach is nothing short of amazing, especially if you're lucky enough to snag a seat by the beach. The service quality was top-notch, making it an ideal spot to unwind for 1-2 hours while soaking in the mesmerizing beach views.

When it comes to the food, the complimentary Spicy popcorn was a delightful surprise, and the mushroom dishes we tried were quite enjoyable. However, the true stars of the show were the cocktails. The mango Daiquiri, blue lagoon, and Long Island cocktails were nothing short of superb, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to the overall experience.

In fact, we were so impressed that we found ourselves returning to Cowrie Cove every night during our 3-day stay. It's worth noting that, despite offering fewer options than the main lobby bar, Cowrie Cove managed to outshine it in terms of ambiance and overall quality.
