Speaking as a person of vietnamese background, this meal missed the mark in many ways. The food came out lightning quick, which is a red flag to me because it tells me that everything is precooked, and not made to order. Also my main came out the same time as the appetizer, which is a little pet peeve, but I digress.
Pho with brisket and tendon: The broth is pretty weak and watered down. I can tell they don't use a lot of beef bones because it's not rich with collagen. The noodles are also not cooked to order, and had zero texture when it was reheated with the soup. The plate of toppings was also lacking; it had a handful of bean sprouts, and a few sprigs of mint, which is the wrong herb. There should be at the very least: Thai basil, a lime, and a chili pepper which were all missing. There were a lot of tableside condiments to make up for it though.
Spring Rolls: These tasted fine, but again, they were served lukewarm and not fried to order.
Com Suon (pork chop on rice): All the elements were there, but again, everything was not cooked to order. Maybe the pork chop was warmed in the microwave because it was very dry. The flavours were nice though, and tastes like it could be so much better!
The best thing I can say is that the price is very fair. Would I come again? I don't think so because clearly they are not passionate enough about serving the best food when they cut corners and...
Read moreDuring my recent visit, I encountered several issues that I believe management should address in order to improve both customer experience and brand image.
Firstly, the restaurant does not accept credit card payments, which can be inconvenient for many foreign customers who prefer cashless transactions. Offering more flexible payment options would greatly enhance convenience.
Secondly, the service was disappointing. When I requested a pitcher of water, the staff member I approached walked away without any acknowledgment. After repeating my request, I was then informed that pitchers of water were not available. While it is understandable if this is a policy, the lack of communication and courtesy left a negative impression.
Additionally, I noticed multiple typographical errors in the menu. For example, the word “shank” was misspelled as “shrank.” Such errors can diminish the restaurant’s professional image and should be corrected.
Lastly, I was surprised to find that there were no chicken dishes available on the menu, which limits options for customers who may not prefer beef or pork.
Overall, the restaurant has potential but falls short in both service and presentation. Attention to staff training, menu quality, and basic customer conveniences would significantly improve the...
Read moreI relocated to Manila for work a month ago and have already been here twice. On the third week here, I was craving for Bún bò (spicy beef thick noodles) and this was the only Vietnamese restaurant I could find online that served the dish. When I came back the second time, I brought a friend. Aside from Bún bò, I've tried Bánh xèo, chả giò chiên (fried spring rolls), gỏi cuốn (fresh spring rolls) and of course, coffee. For a Vietnamese taste bud, I would applaud the efforts in making Bún bò and the fresh spring rolls. The rest is average but I'd consider those quite alright for a restaurant abroad. Great efforts in providing the full set of seasoning and spices as well as the toothpick =)). From my observation, most of customers here are Vietnamese who are living in Manila. Both times I've been here, it was filled with Vietnamese. I enjoy the atmosphere here, even when it was filled with customers talking, it was still comfortable to carry out conversations with friends. The deco is bare in my opinion but good enough. The food is more important. Though the food comes out quite fast, the service isn't the best. How come you don't have cash to change when we pay? And please consider installing a card reader. Hard to imagine such a big restaurant only accepts...
