Food was okay. Here’s my honest review: Normally when I eat at a place that serves Donburi as their main dish - I always try their Beef Gyudon. Beef was tasty but it lacks sauce and the rice and the sauce just feels so dry. I am not even sure if they served it with Japanese rice but it isn’t as moist as it should be. Truffle Udon- it was tasty. It had strong truffle flavors and it was creamy. However when it came to the noodles- it was awfully soggy Salmon was good and the rice. I was thinking that maybe because the salmon was more expensive than the Beef Gyudon at about Php 700+ per bowl- it should definitely be more premium than an almost Php 500 bowl of Beef Gyudon We tried their mushroom with aioli- the sauce was good but the mushroom lacks flavor. It was just breaded and there was no taste to the breading. We even had to request for Togarashi powder just to give it a kick. There are better breading mixes available in the market where they could’ve add taste to their mushroom.
Their branding was good: The vibe was there The small details were not missed out: tissue had a cool design. Their heavy menu was nice and tastefully done. Their ads were set up correctly- probably why we went there - because we were thrown a lot of ads.
Overall verdict, tried it once and will prefer the other brand in the same area that serves better...
Read moreWe dined at Ginza Gyu Makati as a family of four around 9:00 PM. I ordered the Salmon Aburi, and to my surprise, I found a strand of hair approximately 2 inches long on the dish. I placed the hair on a tissue and called the attention of one of the male staff members to report the incident.
Instead of responding professionally, the staff member made a joke and said, “Ay, mga panot po kasi 'yung staff namin sa kitchen.” I was taken aback by the inappropriate comment, especially considering the seriousness of the situation.
He immediately took the plate back to the kitchen without offering an apology or asking how I would like the issue to be handled—whether the dish would be replaced or removed from the bill. Soon after, the bill was brought to our table even though we hadn’t finished eating yet—possibly because it was late.
When we asked about the dish with the hair, they told us it was already being re-cooked for replacement. I then told them not to bother as I had already lost my appetite, and it was getting late. I requested that the item simply be removed from the bill, which they eventually did.
While I appreciate that they deducted the dish from the bill, I hope the management takes food safety and staff training more seriously. The handling of the situation lacked professionalism, and it definitely affected our...
Read moreThis restaurant has been on our list of must-visits in Makati for a while. There are plenty of Japanese restaurants who have established a reputation and following online with Ginza Gyu being one of the most promising ones. Conveniently located within Legazpi Village, we had dinner here after a spending a lazy afternoon among the many cafes within the area (i.e., Bad Café, Yardstick). We were excited to try out their main and side plates. We ordered the truffle udon, wagyu steak, and ikura salmon. All the dishes were well seasoned and balance but it was the truffle udon which was a standout. The flavours really pop and it was a dish that wasn’t offered in other places. The serving of each dish was moderate and 2 mains plus a side plate was just enough to make us fool without overindulging. It was a pleasant surprise that they offered free drinks for each donburi orders which was just cherry on top of an already great dinner experience. Would be back to explore more of their offerings including their wagyu and foie gras dish.
The resto can easily be accessible but available parking along the street maybe a challenge especially for a busy night. Ginza Gyu is usually in high demand both for lunch and dinner schedules and would recommend you make a reservation before visiting especially if you more than 2 people that...
