Honest Evaluation of the Prince Plaza II Condotel. 2.5 Star.
Pros: Location: Heart of Makati next to the Greenbelt Mall complex Price: For the location, the price is very reasonable Staff: Staff are genuinely friendly and helpful WiFi: Great WiFi in the rooms.
Cons: Older Hotel: The hotel is beat-up Maintenance: Many unfixed problems plague hotel. Dark: Entryway, elevators, and hallways are all dark, especially at night.
So, to elaborate: I stayed here at the Prince Plaza II Condotel for over a week. Upon check-in they will ask for 4000 pesos or $90 cash as “security.” The hotel is located right next to the Greenbelt Mall. The first room they gave me (which I did not reserve) was tiny and the AC did not work. The room was the size of a large closet and the one double bed was extremely hard with no mattress pad. The room I eventually stayed in, and personally recommend, is the room with two single beds. It is large and had a kitchenette with sink, microwave, stove, and large fridge. The small plasma screen television has a limited channel selection, but passable. Rooms all come with large secure safes. Contrary to the description, they only have one bathroom and a weird door that leads to an outside room where the AC unit is stashed. Maybe it was used for laundry at one time. The furniture is old and plagued with dings and fingerprints. Room is not carpeted. Drapes are old, unclean, and broken.
The “gym” is merely one elliptical machine in a small non-aircon room. The rooftop pool is uninviting, and was locked. But a note says to call security (from a phone that doesn’t work) to get them to open the pool area. The pool area is in complete disarray and looks to be used for construction/storage. Although many hotels have permanently opened their pools, the PPII is still operating like still under covid lock-down. I was finally able to get to the pool area, by talking to security and them unlocking the door.
Now, despite all that, for the price, the Prince Plaza was a deal. This is literally the most affordable hotel in the area. You are literally surrounded by $150-300/nt hotels. So although not great, the Prince Plaza II is worth the money. Is it a 3.5 star hotel? No. Was it clean? Yes. Would I stay...
Read moreIt's a very outdated condotel. We were placed in a none smoking floor but on our second night we accidentally left the front door open because the guy from their tech department came in to check our TV cause the cable wasn't working. I thought he was waiting for someone else so we left the door open. Not only did that result from mosquitoes getting inside the room but after 5minutes the smell of cigarette smoke entered and filled our room. So much for the floor being none smoking.
Room service is bad. There was one time we didn't put the sign to make the room out the door. But their staff still rang the doorbell we had a long night I was shocked when after the doorbell they actually used their keys to open the door. It's a good thing I was able to get up and warn them that we're in the room still sleeping. They also don't automatically clean the drinking glasses even if it's obviously dirty as long as you don't put it in the sink they will leave it as it is.
Their room keys are super old too. With the card number held together by tape. Our key once fell off got unattached from the card number while we were getting out of the elevator and it is just our luck that it fell in the ridges of the bottom part of the elevator doors. I was quick enough to get it before it completey got stuck inside. We returned the card number and keys and told them about what happened, but when we got back they only handed us the same card number held together by a new piece of tape.
Pool area was another issue you have to actually buzz a security guard before being allowed to go inside. All in all we didn't really enjoyed...
Read moreTwo-bedroom was spacious. I liked the availability of a kitchenette. Closet is also big. The best thing about this hotel is its location — right in the middle of big shopping malls, therefore many places like restaurants/cafes, stores, and even an excellent museum all within walking distance.
The room is old and in extreme dire need of deep cleaning. Mold populates the bathroom, especially within the shower’s walls. It is so gross to look at. Amenities are lacking — tiny shampoo and piece of soap the size of a 20-piso. There is no iron. The bed’s upholstered headboards are smelly, and this is not only in my room. Another family member reported the same issue of a stink emanating from the bed in his room. Bedsheets are stained from wear.
Also, our room was booked for four guests. Yet the hotel only provided two (very thin) towels and only two pillows. They did provide a cot, upon request.
Service was fine and courteous. Staff were prompt to assist. I did have to relay a concern via comment card to staff with regards to security and who can access rooms; I will not go into this further in my review, else this issue may be exploited before it is corrected. Multiple staff were consistently present down in the lobby.
Lobby always overwhelming smells like somebody emptied a jar of polbos into the air. The elevator was scary at times, in that it would sometimes open up into a floor, and the doors would attempt to close, only to open back again and do this several times. So I’d have to exit the floor, and catch...
