(Feb. 24, 2023) Had a marinated bangus breakfast meal (fancy way of saying bangsilog). As is common, you have a choice of scrambled egg or sunny side up. It comes with a generous serving of atsara on some salad greens. Delicious!
(Oct. 30, 2022) As promised in my first review, I've returned. It's been six months, but since then, I've been to their equally good branch in Glorietta 3 park several times. I'm happy to report that, contrary to any apprehensions that I had last time, my latest visit didn't cause me to lower my rating; still 5 stars. This time, I had a chicken teriyaki with rice and veggies for my entree. My drink was an iced mocha, and despite it being dinner again, I didn't bother to order decaf. It's the middle of a 4-day weekend, so it's ok if I sleep late.
(Apr. 10, 2022) A great coffee shop. Not just a coffee shop, actually, but a full-scale restaurant. It was my first time here, so I'll update this review after subsequent visits, hopefully none of which will cause me to lower my rating.
For today, I ordered the Salmon Nicoise Salad, an Iced Cocoa, and a slice of Choco Ganache Cake for dessert. I had eaten in another restaurant the day before and ordered their salmon with vegetables entrée, and it turned out to be the low note of my meal; there was just a token amount of vegetables. But Mentoré's Salmon Nicoise Salad is how it's done right; lot's of veggies, and a healthy variety, but not scrimping on the salmon. And to think it wasn't even listed as an entrée, just a salad.
The Iced Cocoa had that savory dark chocolate type of flavor, and the Ganache was just right. I'll try to go for brunch or lunch next time, so that I can try their coffee (my visit today was for dinner, and I can't drink coffee after lunch, or it will interfere with my sleep).
Ambience is typical modern coffee shop, bright and clean, and service is courteous and...

Read moreI used to go here pre-pandemic. Back then, even though it's a little above my means, I spent time drinking and eating here for my peace of mind. I personally liked the staff as well pre-pandemic. But yesterday, on mother's day, I wanted my mother to taste kori kohi since I know she likes lighter coffee. I was also with my nephew who also wanted it. The waitress came and when I asked for 2 kori kohi, without double checking, she immediately said that there's no stock. And she added "It's not really that good. I would rather recommend iced sumiyaki." I would have accepted it being out of stock but I don't think she treated us right. I would never recommend iced sumiyaki without asking if the customer likes very strong coffee. What if I didn't know and took her recommendation? (Iced sumiyaki is very bitter for light coffee drinkers) Right after ordering, another customer came. Before leaving we saw she ordered kori kohi which was delivered to her. Asked personnel below if it really is out, personnel said that happens but they always check before confirming. I hope UCC sees this and brief their staff well. This left a bad taste to one of my...
