Nikkei Robata in Greenbelt, Makati, presents itself as a high-end dining destination with a luxurious atmosphere and exceptional service. However, despite its appealing setting and attentive staff, the food, particularly the sushi, falls short of expectations.
Starting with the positives, Nikkei Robata boasts a lavish and stylish interior that immediately sets the tone for an upscale dining experience. The ambiance is refined and elegant, with tasteful decor, sophisticated lighting, and comfortable seating arrangements that create a serene and inviting environment. Whether you’re there for a business meeting or a special occasion, the luxurious atmosphere makes you feel like you’re in for a treat.
The service at Nikkei Robata is another strong point. From the moment you arrive, the staff is professional, courteous, and eager to assist. They are knowledgeable about the menu and can provide helpful recommendations. The attention to detail and prompt service ensure that your dining experience is smooth and enjoyable. The staff’s friendliness and efficiency significantly enhance the overall experience, making you feel valued and well-taken care of.
Unfortunately, the quality of the food does not match the high standards set by the atmosphere and service. The sushi, in particular, is disappointing. It lacks the freshness and flavor that one expects from a top-tier sushi restaurant. The rice is bland, and the fish, while fresh, is tasteless and lacks the rich, distinctive flavors that make sushi so enjoyable. The presentation of the sushi is attractive, but the taste simply doesn’t deliver, leaving a lot to be desired.
Beyond the sushi, other dishes on the menu also fail to impress. While the variety is extensive, the overall execution of the dishes is inconsistent, with flavors that are often muted and lacking in the expected complexity and depth. Given the premium pricing, the quality of the food is a significant letdown.
In summary, Nikkei Robata in Greenbelt, Makati, excels in providing a luxurious atmosphere and exceptional service. However, the food, especially the sushi, does not live up to the high expectations set by the restaurant's setting and staff. The sushi is tasteless, and the overall quality of the dishes is underwhelming. While the ambiance and service are top-notch, the disappointing food quality makes it hard to fully recommend Nikkei Robata for those seeking a memorable...
Read moreI have been a long time fan of Nikkei ever since they opened in Rada street. I have even invited a lot of friends and encouraged people to try them with high recommendations. I noticed though, that as they expanded, not all branches have the same menu as the one in the original location. Why? I honestly don’t know but it is quite dissapointing. Specially if you go out of your way to dine there with a particular dish in mind. I make sure that I go to the branch that has the favorite comfort dishes I am hoping to get. Last night, in Greenbelt I was sad to learn that they took out the Seared Tuna Rissoto that I know they used to serve in this branch. Sad. So I decided to get something else. I also ordered 2 pcs of Unagi Nigiri. Something I liked, to make up for not getting the dish I had in mind. Instead of serving me that, they served me 10 pcs o Unagi Asparagus Roll! So that was dissapointment #2! I just waved it off as an honest mistake and said, “never mind we will take it nalang” so the staff won’t cough out the cost of their mistake. My son joined us a little later and ordered a Buta Bowl. Later he was served 2 sticks of Korubuta Pork Belly. Dissapointment #3! We just looked at each other in confusion and waved it off as yet another mistake on their part. We ate the items we ordered because we didn’t want to wait anymore. By then were quite hungry. As we were ending our meal, lo and behold the server brings us the Buta Bowl! I was not dissapointed anymore. I was very upset. My daughter was trying to explain to the manager our situation. But I knew by then what I did not want to do. I did not want to pay for another more expensive dish because of their mistake. That was too much! I told them to take out the Buta bowl from my total bill. The Manager manager told us we could take it home as a token of their remorse for their mistake. I said no thank you. I was not making a complaint in order to get a freebie. Manager apologized again and I said its ok. We will never eat here again. It was a most unpleasant pricy...
Read moreI ordered the uni sushi and chiperones but they didn't have any, this was disappointing. The complimentary potato chips were good but not freshly made. Some of the chips were cold and not crispy. They can replenish for free once but the next one will have a charge. The server who told us this said it like a threat lol Parang hindi ko babayaran if I wanted to order again, she was not polite. The starters we got were the kurubota gyoza and unagi asparagus roll. The gyoza had a crispy exterior that exploded into juiciness of the filling with every bite. The Unagi sushi was also delicious. My husband had the soba and he liked that one too. Although we don't know why the waiter who served it to him started explaining how to eat the dish. It was so condescending. Why would my husband order it if he didn't know how to eat it? We didn't ask so why do your spiel? It's such a common dish, nothing special about it. All the appetizers were great except for the main course that we had. I had the Truffle Gyudon and my husband had the Black Cod. The Gyudon had a truffle scent but hardly any taste of it and it was bland. I had to add several drops of soy sauce to make it have some flavor. The Black Cod was also soso. This is more like a drinking place, I think, that's why it's the pica pica that was really good. Maybe we should have gotten the yakitori. As for their service, we never got our service water replenished. I also got a feeling they kept on pushing us to order their beverages on the menu. It was a late lunch so 2 PM and they already gave us the liquor menu lol We are not drinkers so it didn't appeal to us. The ambience is nice but there are other better Japanese restaurants with more attentive, polite and friendlier service. I am not impressed...
