I’m 53 years old but this is only my 3rd Google review. Disappointing; likely because I got the studio for less than ₱9k. Expected the same place 10 years ago but it is now quite old. The smell of food greets you as soon as you step off the 15th floor elevator and follows you all the way inside your room. 😞 Either closing the double door worked or I’ve acclimated this morning. Nice to have a small hallway leading to the bathroom but would have appreciated the cabinets instead of the coffee nook beside it instead of all the way on the other side. The chair & TV look new but the rest of the furniture are old. There are several working cable channels but THEY HAVE NO HBO. In disbelief until now. The bathroom is old. Sink is too small (nowhere to place your toiletries but at the edge of the bathtub), diverter valve was so stuck at 1am had no choice but to wait 15 minutes for maintenance just so I could shower (checked in at 12). Exhausting at the onset. New and huge shower handle was stiff (no room for small adjustments) and pressure from the also new, huge, heavy shower head was so strong that I slipped to avoid the burst of hot water and almost hit my head. I thought it was the end of me. Because too much water is coming in, the shower drain of course is super slow. Love the view. I’d be lying if I said I’m not at all sad because am booked for 3 nights.
Almost forgot! “Pet friendly” accommodation on Agoda but was in a rush and, because I grew up in and still am from MNL, had the good sense to call them before leaving the house otherwise I would have arrived with my favorite cat who suddenly would not have a place to sleep at 12am. Clam chowder was salty, no clam not even potatoes, maybe from a sachet if they come in those. Should have ordered something familiar outside. Lastly, if the user ID for Wi-Fi is my room number and the password is my last name and not cap-sensitive as advised at check in, then the wifi ALSO isn’t working. Have to change my rating from 3 to 2 just now.
*edited for 2024. Took awhile for Reception to get back to me about my simple diamond necklace with a lot of sentimental value, but they packed it with such care and security that I couldn’t help but smile and feel...
Read moreAbsolutely one of my worst stay experience at Ascott across the world. It's nothing against the service staff they were brilliant and most did what they could. However, it was a string of systematic failure that made my work trip a disaster. This on-going renovation at the entire Makati area until late Aug. There were no obvious warning or notice during booking at Trip.com except a very fine print at the bottom of the hotel page that said there might be 'Potential Disruption - on-going renovation' at the hotel. This text was drowned out in the page full of irrelevant information. Then, the reception briefly mentioned this during the check-in, and also a letter in the room mentioning this. I was only made aware of the renovation in the area was ROUND THE CLOCK when I checked into the room. Nightmare came in N2 when heavy drilling and knocking started at 4am and persisted for more than 30mins or an hour. Ascot switched the room for me at a supposedly quieter wing but the damage was done. I had a full day of meeting the next day and it was horrible. What's funny is that, the supposedly quieter wing, have a noisy neighbour upstairs that started dragging chairs and jumping around the room (children playing?) early in the morning the day after, when I was trying to catch some extra sleep before checking out.and My question for you guys at Ascott Makati is that,- the effort to provide a proper notice prior to booking is almost ZERO. It's borderline dishonesty, and Ascott Makati is partially responsible; and SHAME ON YOU TRIP.COM- if you know there is on-going round the clock renovation, why didn't you place your guest at the 'quieter wing' in the first place?- if you were unsure which day there will be night drilling, in my past experiences, hotels would tried to work with the mall/renovation entity to confirm the affected time period and inform customers (or whatever else you could do, I shouldn't be teaching you how to do your job)- first room assigned to me was old...
Read moreFor around PhP8000, the hotel experience was not worth it. First off, there was no clearly visible signage as to where to park. Had to circle around the area in terrible traffic only to enter the parking lot for Glorietta 4(?). Inside the parking lot, which was a rat maze given the lack of signages (again), I had to take chances and ask around just to find out that the hotel parking was at basement 3. Having arrived at the gate of the hotel parking in basement 3, I was greeted with the aesthetic of the hotel parking, which stronly ressembled those drug dens and abandoned factories in movies.
Moving on to the hotel itself, I checked in and carried all my bags to my room. No staff offered to carry my bags, which should be standard given the price point and class of the hotel. I did get a greeting from the staff, but that does not really help with the weight of the bags. The hotel was not even busy at the time as a lot of staff ("bell boys" may be insensitive) were just chatting away with each other.
Room temperature was too cold that I had to turn off the aircon for several hours. Even the warmest setting was still unreasonably cold. Vented aircons, without complementary heating, are just the worst of its kind.
As for the bathroom, a bathtub-shower area is not a safe option. I would have preferred a separate space dedicated for the tub.
Morning breakfast on a father's day left me disappointed. There too many options for carbs - various breads, waffles, pancake, rice, champorado (also rice), pansit, and even cereal. Waffles, the only carb I ate, was bland. Salad greens and egg were available as usual. As for the meats, there were 2 chicken variants - longganisa and sausage (can't comment because I'm allergic), and 2 pork variants - lechon (good morning, high blood) and bacon. I tried both porks and found the lechon also bland. There was also dilis and several usual drink options.
The short of it? Go to...
