The food was good, but nothing to rave about. The grilled fish we ordered was dry and tough, and the skin lacked the crispiness we expected—almost as if it had been pre-grilled and was just waiting for the next customer. Everything else, however, was tasty, and the tempura was delicious.
My boyfriend ordered a highball, but the first one they served was very flat. They took it back and replaced it, but the next one was just as flat, so we sent it back and canceled the order. We're not sure what happened there.
Overall, the place really reminded us of Japan, with interiors that were simple yet comfortable. The staff was great, friendly, and very prompt.
I would have given it four stars, but I'm giving it three because the person we thought was the owner was quite rude to the staff. When we walked in, the waitress didn’t know where to seat us since the only available seats were reserved, and the owner was occupying the only other seating area available. She was simply asking for guidance on where to seat us, but he responded with rudeness, borderline yelling. It was really uncomfortable, and no one should treat their staff like that. Kindness...
Read moreAs others mentioned, the place specialises in eel farmed locally. Because of the climate the eel is short of fat. In colder climate like Italy the eel is a Xmas dish which is cooked in its own fat. The eel here is cooked well and it is nice nonetheless but not the typical rich eel experience. The spinach and bacon/garlic salad it's great so are the asparagus. The tuna sashimi is cheap but not that great. The tuna is most probably skipjack which is the lowest grade of the tuna spieces. The meat has a nice dark red color and consistency but has a typical blood aftertaste. Yet it was a good quality well cured skipjack and better than some i caught and prepared myself. As the country produces lots of yellow fin and big eye tuna one would expect to have those in a more serious Japanese like this. The place is definitely cleaner that all the Japanese-Filipino in the area. The decor is nice, minimalist yet warm an authentic. Service is better than most even though the servers know very little about the food (couldn't tell which fish roe they serve). Considering that it is in Manila and compared only to other local Japanese it...

The unagi is almost the same in Japan when we visited last year.
Since it's my wife's birthday & she is craving unagi, we found this place, and immediately loved it.
Well priced for the quality of food.
We ordered Course A & C since you need to buy a minimum of two course option. The only difference is the size of the unagi.
The C is way bigger portion, which we love, end up wrapping it up.
This Courses is a total of 10 various food side dishes and dissert. Drink not included.
The ambiance is great, it has walk-in area, bar, and a cosy group / semi private seating.
The restroom is clean as it should be. It has a vanity light, biddet, automatic air freshener.
The staff or servers are polite and accomodating to our request, which the service charge is justified.
By the end of our stay we are fully staffed to the brim of our stomaches. And some of our food was wrapped for to go.
Overall experience is great, definitely we will be going back again....
