Salt & Pepper Squid's taste features a balance of saltiness, a subtle peppery heat, and umami flavors. The squid pieces are coated in a light and crispy breading. The squid itself was tender and not rubbery. 10/10 for its consistency across the entire serving.
Braised Beef Noodle Soup was a satisfying dish. The soup itself was flavorful and not too salty. It also has a noticeable beef essence. The noodles were of good quality. The beef wasn’t as tender as I had hoped but wasn’t tough either—just somewhere in between. It’s a decent option if you're in the mood for a flavorful, balanced noodle soup, but the beef texture could be improved for a more premium experience.
Lastly, I had Salted Egg Custard Bun for dessert. Known for its soft, steamed exterior and rich, molten salted egg yolk custard filling. The buns were served fresh and hot. However, upon taking a bite, the molten filling oozed out rapidly, causing a hot and sticky mess on my hand. This made the buns somewhat challenging to enjoy. Disappointed at this specific branch with their service. Started off with us requesting for water before ordering when they gave us menus upon sitting down. Requested for water again after ordering. After 10min or so, looked like no one would serve us, i helped myself by going near the kitchen and asked for water, brought them back myself because they might be busy (scanned the restaurant before going out, there were only 2 occupied tables 🙃)
When the meal came in, we asked for kubyertos. Unfortunately what we got were stained (madumi) so we called their attention, Requested for new ones but flagged the cleanliness of their cutlery. The waitress just replied "ok, thank you sir"
I love it. Go gurl, give us no customer service.
But food the did not disappoint ✨️
I'll say it again and I'll repeat it evertime someone needs to hear it.
SHI LIN IS BETTER THAN DIN TAI FUNG.
Not only is the food better (tastier), but they're also...
Read moreShi Lin at EDSA Shangri-La Mall brings authentic Taiwanese flavors to a convenient and upscale location. Famous for its Xiao Long Bao, the soup dumplings are consistently delicious and has been one of our favorite options whenever we have cravings. The menu also features hearty Taiwanese staples like Beef Noodle Soup and Fried Rice with Pork Chop, both generously portioned and satisfying. It is quite unfortunate that the experience dining at their branch in EDSA Shangri-la to be nothing short of disappointing. The service was slow and cold. The orders took time up until getting the bill. The resto wasn’t even packed but the staff seemed busy with record keeping or something else. What we know was the service wasn’t present and wouldn’t be back because of it. Other Shi-Lin branches including the ones in Podium, Rockwell, and Estancia have no...
