La Toca Taqueria has long been my go-to spot for Mexican food, and in my opinion, they still serve the best burritos, quesadillas, and rice bowls. Although the music can be a bit loud, and they no longer seem to be including salsa on the side, the food is consistently delicious. While the prices can be a bit steep for a student area, it’s a worthwhile splurge every now and then.
Despite how I might feel about their food, my recent visit left me disappointed. I was denied a PWD discount because my information didn’t appear on the DOH website. Read moreFood: We got the tuna ceviche tostada, chicken taco, and fish taco.
(+) Chicken taco was the highlight as the chicken chunks were meaty and flavorful, plus had other components like mangoes to build more flavor without being too overwhelming. (+-) Fish taco was ok lang although a bit pricey for the quality of the fish and thick batter but yummy naman (-) Tuna ceviche tostada was the one I was looking forward to the most since I was craving a tuna tosada ever since trying profound kitchen (whose shell was store bought and frozen but tuna was so good) However, la toca's ceviche tostada was too bland since it literally was just ceviche on a shell. I would've appreciated some sauce (like a tartare) or mangoes or some other element to give it more flavor.
Overall, tacos were really big and siksik, place was well airconditioned and had a small bathroom, and gloves were provided.
Would return to try other things! (+Get that...
