A couple of years ago, MOS Burger caught my eye. It’s located at the ground floor of the Midtown Wing of Robinson’s Manila. It’s a pretty big place and pretty roomy. Back then, not that many people were eating there so it was a nice place to hang out and enjoy a nice snack. MOS stand for mountain, ocean and sky. You can see it among the decor of the restaurant. It’s a Japanese restaurant that specializes in snacks and rice bowls. You know, quick bites.
The first time I ate there, my sister and I decided to try their specialty which is their chicken karaage. They offer it in 3- and 6-pieces. I also decided to try their chicken karaage burger. I just want to see if it’s gonna be any different from the usual karaage. And because burgers is another one of their specialties.
The chicken karaage was perfect. It was delicious and juicy. It seemed dry at first but when you take a bite, the juiciness is evident. The breading is perfectly fried and it’s just the right crispiness. It’s not that hard or hard to chew. It also doesn’t scratch the roof of your mouth when you take a bite. Add to that the Japanese mayo on the side, and you are in for a treat.
The chicken karaage burger was bigger than I thought. It has like 4-5 pieces of chicken karaage squished in hamburger buns, lettuce, onions and tomatoes. The sauce they used was different, and I cannot guess what was in it. Probably a trade secret. When it was served, I got stressed at how I will eat it. For someone with a TMJ dysfunction, eating big burgers always poses a problem. So I just asked for a knife and fork and proceeded to eat it in style.
Just like the chicken karaage, the chicken in the burger was every bit as juicy, crisp and delicious. At first I thought it would be weird to eat karaage as a burger but it was actually good. It just gave me a challenge but it was worth it. The burger was big and filling, perfect for a heavy snack. The price range of MOS is on the expensive side. This order I thin
The gyudon was good, but it had way too many onions for my taste. I like the fact that the rice serving was generous. I’m more of a rice person so I loved that the bowl had a lot of rice. The proportion of rice to gyudon was good. The beef was also savory. Because of the rice, the rice bowl was actually very filling. I think I did not eat...
Read moreHorrible service, I ordered yakiniku rice burger with 5 piece karaage as a side and salted caramel drink. They served the burger ans rice and said the fries was to follow, i told them i didnt order any fries and when i looked at the receipt surely enough it said fries on it, fine it is what is so Im waiting on the fries and the staff that took my order asked me if my order was complete (apparently an order gor doubled) and i told him what happened and he even agreed and remembered I said karaage so he went back inside and I sat there and waited for 30 minutes with no karaage or even fries, So now I asked them if it really takes 30 minutes to make an order of fries then I walked out and told them how some of their staff is incompetent. Management really needs to up their game and train their staff properly seeing as how they got my order wrong and never even got that wrong order served to me, mind you the place wasn't even that busy when i was there for...
Read moreI like the ambience of this place, clean and bright. There were a lot of unavailable items when I went there though. Most of the drinks were also out of stock save for coffee and diet coke.
I went with the Ebi Katsu burger - because lent. The patty was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The amount of greens balances the mayo dressing. Although I will soon find out that all of those lettuce were pushed to the front to make the burger look more appealing. Towards the last few bites, I was left with no more lettuce. :( Don’t worry about making a mess when eating the juicy juicy burger, the wrapper is very thick. It kept everything intact.
I was half expecting them to have melon soda but it wasn’t on the menu. Maybe it is not as...
