We ate here for the first-time last May for Mother’s day and our dog's birthday celebration, the experience is pretty bad. The food was okay, not bad in any way but not like it’s in different levels of taste. The one that turns us off significantly was the service, it was awful. We had to keep on calling the waiters for follow-ups on our orders. When they serve our food, there was so much missing stuff, at first, we thought that they didn't serve some of our food because the table was full, therefore we let it slide. After finishing most of it, we followed up on some of the missing stuff, and it couldn't be any quicker cause really, they forgot about it. Now time for the dessert which is the part that makes my blood boils. We followed up for our 2 halo-halo and 3 crema de leche, and the included leche flan on our meal. The 2 halo-halo served fast, but the other stuff hadn't been served yet so we thought they were just making it, they just had to serve the 2 halo-halo first. But after about 20-30 minutes, the dessert hadn't been served still, and the reason? They say they forgot about it but will make them as soon as possible. another 20-30 minutes had passed, and dessert hadn't arrived at all. One of us had to talk to the front table to end this ordeal once and for all, only just then the dessert has been served as a take-home cause the mall's already closing. Mind you we arrived about 7PM and they finished serving at 9PM or so, a meal that could take less than an hour takes 2 hours to complete. We don't know their deal or why they always forget about us. The people next to our table arrived later than us, but their meal was served without delay even the dessert, and finished eating before us, they were 10 people, and we were just 5. Are they discriminating because we wear almost "pambahay lang" outfits? and not their priority? Idk to be honest what's the deal, but one thing is for sure, this is the first time we will...

Food here is delicious. But the experience we had as a first timer to try Kuya J was ridiculous. The sever seemed tired. First we were offered a seat that close to their kitchen, there were tables available, konti lang kami dun. When we politely ask, kuya pwede dito? We were given a table that is rocking. Well, okay. We went there for the food though. Then food was amazing, we're done na ans asked for the receipt, we saw that halo halo pla was not yet served. So we ask for the bill and halo halo. Then, it was served we asked for 2 spoons bec ours already been used with sauce and all. We asked them thrice, grabe and spoon that was served is dirty, seemed used na. My God! We also asked the waiter to take out the crispy pinakbet, the waiter pour the pinakbet to take out container in the table and a lot of crumbs fell to the table and to my partner. It is really a nightmare. We still don't ask for the manager, we better decided to leave anyway, di namin na enjoy ung halo halo, feeling ko lahat ng kinain namin madumi. Gosh. Just saw bad reviews about kuya j, so sa i saw it after we dine. Service is everything. Never again kuya j. If there is negative here the negative score sana...

The servers are over worked . The place was busy but there were only 2 on the floor. The food was good but not as good as the other kuya j I’ve been to. There is something you have to be aware of at this kuya j-when we got our bill, the calculation was wrong. We had to teach them that the 12% VAT should be taken out of the total bill. (They were dividing the gross amount by 1.12. They said it was a BIR. requirement. Not True). The result after the 12% VAT was taken out is where the 20% Senior discount should be calculated from. They blamed their computer does it differently. Although the difference was only small- it is unacceptable that an establishment like this cannot do simple calculation. And also- there is no such thing as omitting 2 dishes from senior discount because 2 people from our original reservation was no show. They tried to do that first on our bill. So moral of the lesson- check your bill all the the same. I think all restaurant staff should be trained on how to compute for VAT and applying senior citizen discount the...

We dropped by Kuya J’s in Festival Mall for merienda and ordered pancit, fresh lumpia, maja blanca, and of course, their famous halo-halo. Let’s start with the best part: the Halo-Halo truly lives up to the hype — creamy, well-balanced, and generous with ingredients. It was the highlight of our meal and absolutely worth coming back for. As for the rest, the pancit and fresh lumpia were just okay — nothing special, nothing terrible. But the maja blanca was a huge disappointment. I didn’t realize it was Frozen Maja Blanca, and honestly, it felt like chewing on a wet frozen sponge. The texture was off, and the experience was unpleasant. They should really consider removing it from the menu or at least giving customers a heads-up that it's served frozen. Overall, come here for the halo-halo, skip the maja blanca, and manage your expectations with the rest of the merienda.

The Festival Mall branch of the Kuya J chain of restaurants. The menu is basically mainstream Filipino fare. The food isn't really outstanding, but it's good enough that I'll definitely be eating here again. One thing that surprised me were the prices; very reasonable, and you won't pay that much more than if you ate at a fast food joint. The ambience is clean and bright, but warm. Service is adequate, but could be better. I don't know if it's just because they were tired (I came in for a late dinner, about an hour before closing time) but the staff forgot utensils (which the person serving the food immediately noticed and corrected) and tissue paper (which I had to ask for). But overall, still courteous, and attentive enough that it's not that hard to call for attention.

Food is a bit pricey, but it was fine. Good quality ingredients and dishes were cooked nicely. Portion sizes were smaller than expected but still good for a group. The Halo-Halo were excellent in particular. The service in this branch was pretty bad. It was obviously understaffed. No receptionist at the front, very few waiters, long wait time for food even though the place wasnt particularly full and some tables were not cleaned even after 2 hours.
