Chung Dam is premiere traditional Korean restaurant located at the 2nd floor of Parqal Mall. Chung Dam is unique as it presents a wide range of korean dishes that to be honest we had only experienced in Korea.
The aesthetics of the place is modern opulent, from marble interiors to wow factors in every VIP room. It is clean, professional and traditionally Korean as it gets.
Service here is top notch to excellent. A couple of special mentions I should take note that made service here excellent. Our Maitre'D CJ led us to our VIP room with great enthusiasm. The manager Ms. Glen visited us quite often to check about the food and the service. Nikki our steak cook, cooked our food with such elegance and poise that we really did felt like VIP's and most of all Cerwin made our dining experience memorable as he catered to our every needs from refills to his extensive knowledge of the menu and it's contents, we appreciated his efforts and his enthusiasm in his job.
The price here at Chung Dam is affordable to expensive but everything is worth it. From simple rice meals, steaks that will be cooked in front of you, to snow crabs everyway you want it they can serve it. With such a wide range it is but a testament to the preparedness of the whole management staff and crew to elevate every diners dining experience as a whole. Truly an international level of dining is served here at Chung Dam. Which is one of the reasons we will come back and bring our family and friends.
The steak we ordered are particularly soft to the bite and was cooked to our preference of medium rare. Everything we ordered were catered to and also our food allergies. They even provided complimentary desserts for our dining there. Truly, the presence of Chung Dam in Parqal made the whole of Parqal elevate in my opinion and humble traditional restaurant that serves even the icons of Korea such as Lee Min Ho etc. We felt like VIP's during our stay in fact with our humble selections of orders we were treated the same with elegance and professionalism not all restaurants carry.
There are plenty of paid parking in Parqal and Chung Dam can easily be accessible via elevators especially for people with...
Read moreDefinitely a must try if you have the budget! This is probably the most exquisite Korean restaurant I've tried and what's good is they also have set meals that I find worth it for the price that are lower compared to the other items we ordered. The budget can range from 500-2000+ depending on what you want to try. They have amazing service and attentive staff.
First their Banchan. Loved the selection from fresh kimchi to a more fermented one which were very distinct & spicy but has other flavors. The sweet potato was amazing! But I honestly wished for green onion kimchi. Japchae didn't hold back on flavor. I found the sausage/spam like dish a bit too salty for my preference but still okay. They also serve a seafood soup along with the Banchan that comes with marinated crabs which comes as raw then gets cooked in the pot, do try it raw if that's a bucket list to taste marinated raw crabs. The soup had strong crustacean flavors with soybean feels.
Dish highlights. Get their hanwoo raw beef sashimi and beef intestines these are definite must tries for this place. Beef sashimi was refreshing good balance of sweet and salty with sesame notes. Beef intestine was meaty and has a chew but concentrated beef flavor. Flat fish and Salmon sashimi were also amazing very clean and fresh. The fried pork cutlet was surprisingly very tender and umami especially with the sauce which was good for kids. The bibimbap also delicious. The grilled meats go for the ribeye beef instead of the set we did find the chuckeye cut on the chew side. Their pork cuts are amazing being tender and juice. The pork jowl and plain samgyup is worth going back too and you have the chills grilled also. The Korean beef stew was subpar compared to the other dishes, but if you want a hearty soup that could kill a hangover or when you're feeling under the weather that's the type of soup you'd want to have and the serving was big which can be good for 2 people. Then lastly the whole meal came with fruits as the end as dessert which was a good way to end the meal. Some of the dishes might be quite expensive but they cook their food well. Definitely worth the try at least...
Read moreWe were looking for a Korean restaurant in the Macapagal area, and Google led us to Chung Dam in Parqal Mall. After doing a bit of research and seeing that some Korean actors had dined there, we decided to give it a try.
We ordered two sets of prime meat, a seafood pancake, bibimbap (from the set menu), a bottle of makgeolli, and a Coke Zero. The meal started off well. The staff served a generous variety of side dishes — all authentic and delicious. The flavors definitely reminded us of Korea, and at this point, we were quite pleased.
Then came the meat, which they first presented to us — seemingly as a protocol. A staff member asked where we preferred it to be cooked, and I said inside the VIP room, as I enjoy watching the grilling process. They began serving the seafood pancake and, unexpectedly, a portion of tteokbokki, which we assumed was part of the meal.
However, things started going downhill from there.
While we were eating the side dishes, the cooked meat was brought in — but to our surprise, the portion was significantly less than what was initially shown. It looked like they had padded the plate with vegetables to give the illusion of a larger serving. That felt a bit deceptive.
Worse, the meat had already been cooked outside the VIP room, despite my clear request. This was frustrating but we decided to let it go — until a manager came in to inform us that the tteokbokki had been mistakenly served and asked if they could charge us an additional ₱500 for it. This was very disappointing. Why should customers bear the cost of the staff’s mistake?
In the end, we paid over ₱4,900 for two people (including the tteokbokki we didn’t order but were charged for because we had already eaten part of it) — a price that might have been acceptable had the service, portions, and overall experience matched the quality of the food. Unfortunately, they didn’t.
While the flavors were truly authentic and enjoyable, the service lapses and disappointing handling of the situation left a bad impression. We won’t be returning, and we wouldn’t recommend Chung Dam based on...
