Read moreWorst buffet experience I've had.
The meat options were terrible and not fresh. The selection was limited to pork and chicken, with most being offal like pork kidney and pork heart. They don’t remove the skin from the pork belly, which becomes tough when barbecued or boiled for shabu-shabu. The only beef option, beef chuck, was hidden and not displayed with the other meats. We only found out about it when we saw other diners with different meat and asked where they got it. It was tucked away in a corner behind the cooked food options, making it hard to find for first-time visitors. Overall, the food choices were limited, the meat and seafood were not fresh, and the cooked dishes were subpar. Definitely not worth the price.
The service was equally disappointing. The restaurant seemed understaffed, with plates piling up on tables without being cleared. It took a long time for the soup to be refilled. Management should assign specific tasks to staff, such as one person dedicated to refilling the soup and another to clearing tables.
Overall, it was a very bad experience, and I was deeply disappointed. Usually, I avoid rice at buffets to save room for more food, but this time, I ended up eating their yang chow fried rice just to quell my hunger. This was truly one of the worst buffet experiences...
Read moreI had a high expectation of this place, since it has a very high score and the pictures look great. Unfortunately, I think there is a serious issue of hygiene and food safety. Three of us had dinner here at 8 pm last Thursday. The next day, one of us started having a fever, vomiting and having diarrhoea, which lasted for three to four days. One of us started to have fever and diarrhoea during the weekend, and was diagnosed bacterial infection (a direct result of food poisoning/unhygienic food) at the hospital. I had milder symptoms, but felt very uncomfortable in my stomach and had headache during the several days after the dinner. I hope this raises Tong Yang's awareness of food hygiene and gives a warning to potential customers. Plus - this is not a direct evidence, but we did witness the waiters draining the blood water from the plates holding the raw intestines, looking like they are going to put whatever is left back into the fridge, and put them out the next day for people to eat. If this is the case, it could well explain the bacterial infection. I write this review with regrets, and hope future customers don't have to suffer diarrhoea after...
