We ate twice in this restaurant in BGC. My first experience were the best. Crew were all approachable and knows what they're doing. They know the food well that if I asked what's on the food, they can answer with confidence. The short rib soup were the best! So I told myself to make sure I will go back there again.
Unfortunately, the next time got back, we had the absolute worst experience on a restaurant! The waitress might be new and did not know their own menu. Someone assisted her to answer some of our queries. That time we only ordered one soup as we alreay ate outside and just want a hot soup. Four of us shared for one bowl of soup - considering that their serving was quite big and we can't finish ordering one soup per person. We asked for additional bowl and cutlery. And coke for each of us.
When they served the food, there's no additional bowl & cutlery. So we asked them again. And they only provided bowl. Seriously. We end up sipping the soup from the bowl which is fine as we already assumes that they don't want to give us additional bowl and even chopsticks. While also eating our soup - a crew guy was standing behind us and looks like waiting for something. That's really awkward for someone to watch you while you were eating. Then right after we finish our food - he approached us and told us that the table were reserved and asked us to leave. We were like - what's the problem with you guys?!
If it's not for the food - I might give this restaurant a 1 star because of service and rude crew. To be fair, some of their crews were really great assisting us - it's just that guy wearing polo who might be a manager? Not sure. Will never come back again on that restaurant after...
Read moreIncluded this place during our adventure in BGC and I would have to say I should have lowered my expectations a bit.
We arrived an hour after lunch and the place is5 crowded and everything is still bustling with energy. The employees and the owner, I think, greeted us well. We ordered three dishes: mandu, Korean blood sausage and pork rice soup, and pyeonyuk.
In terms of taste, the mandu was the best and truly had the best combination of ingredients and flavor. The korean blood sausage soup, however, was too bland even with all the spices and salt added — the taste is identical to boiled pork meat alone, no other spices, so it’s just bland for me. We tried to compensate by adding the sauce from the mandu and somehow it did change the flavor and made it better.
The Pyeonyuk was the saddest dish we had — it’s literally small tidbits of pork meat that has been compressed into a block and sliced and it didn’t have any flavor I was expecting. Was it supposed to be served cold? I don’t know but it really is something that we will never try again cause it was a let down.
Thankfully, the side dishes added a bit more flare to the dishes and their kimchi was good. Service was excellent and the entire restaurant really radiated Korea with it’s posters and Korean greetings.
Overall, the experience was great and the fault is on us for not reading ahead the dishes we ordered. We will definitely come back and try better selling dishes and hopefully find the flavor we were...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Tang BGC, a Korean restaurant gem that left me thoroughly impressed. From the moment we stepped in, we knew we were in for a treat.
We started our meal with the ox bone soup, which was incredibly rich and flavorful. The broth was perfectly seasoned, providing a comforting and hearty start to our meal. Next, we enjoyed the mandu, which were delightfully crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, a perfect balance that made each bite a joy.
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the spicy squid. The sauce was out of this world—spicy, sweet, and utterly delicious. The squid itself was tender, not chewy, and perfectly cooked.
We also ordered the bossam, which was served in generous portions. The pork was tender and paired beautifully with the accompanying sides, making it a satisfying and delightful dish.
What stood out to me the most was the portion sizes; they were huge, making it a great value for money. Every dish was crafted with care and bursting with authentic Korean flavors.
The playlist was really good too. I also know that Baehyun of EXO dined here during his visit ☺️
If you're looking for a place to enjoy delicious, hearty Korean food, Tang BGC is a must-visit. I'll definitely be coming back for more!
