Ahhhh, I can’t rave more about this place. I know it’s a chain in Australia, but I like to go to chains in other countries, because they add their own culture to the menu and it is sometimes better than the original (dare I say) - and St. Louis in Manila did NOT disappoint.
Ok so fun story - I am a solo traveler, so I’m often kicking it at fine dining establishment by myself! :) I walked in and the atmosphere was really friendly and the decor and furnishing were subtle and melted well with the music and staff and the menu.
I sat in the corner with the bookshelf behind me (a duh- as a reader, it’s only necessary). I came in between the lunch and dinner rush, so it wasn’t too busy and I was seated immediately, with the choice to pick! Love that!
I then sat next to someone who was working in the corner as well and while looking at the menu and finding it hard to choose what meal I wanted, the person next to me, meals was delivered and it looked DIVINE.
I kindly asked him what he was having and he told me the steak salad bowl and I was like “oh my gosh, I’m getting that” and he goes “yes, it’s so good, one of my favorites.”
I later found out, HE WAS ONE OF THE OWNERS and we had a great time chatting about my visit and his business. I had a lovely time and the food was indeed IMMACULATE. Fresh greens, pesto, cilantro, cherry tomatoes, and the steak wasn’t too chewy or hard; thinly sliced and cooked well! Thank you Anton for your hospitality and recommendations!
Finished it off with St. Louis ice cream of course! Even though I’m lactose intolerant, there were options for dairy and non dairy lovers, those with peanut allergies as well! I, of course, chose violence and got dairy - sue me !! Ahaha
Great time and great place to support Filipino owned business that have added things to the menu that are grown and sold here in the Philippines!
Also a great place to come and work if you are just grabbing lunch, but on a...
Read moreWent to St. Louis in BGC for breakfast and was very disappointed with the food quality and customer service. Ordered for an omelette with salad and no bread. Server said they can just add more salad and remove the bread. When my order came I tasted the salad but was not expecting the salad greens to have brown parts. So I had the impression their greens are not fresh and the kitchen prep team does not check on ingredients well. It's not something that I would even serve to any guest at home. I informed the server and she said she will inform the kitchen staff. Server offered to replace the salad and I was surprised that she and another staff said they can give me free bread. Strange because if they took note of my order I even said. no bread since I prefer a low carb meal when I ordered my omelette with salad. When I asked if I could speak with the manager the staff said the manager went somewhere. Also, when I said I don't want any replacement anymore nor do I want any bread the other staff still brought out a paper bag with bread. I did not accept anything from them. I just told them inform your manager about the salad and since I lost my appetite, I did not even eat the omelette. Honestly, I don't think I will ever go back to St. Louis anymore. For me a good dining experience which includes fresh ingredients and excellent service makes a difference in making customers go back to a resto. Hope the management improves on the food quality and service given their price points are at par with other restos that offer consistent and better food quality...
Read moreStopped by St. Louis a few times for a quick ice cream fix while strolling along High Street with my other half after dinner. My first visit? Chef’s kiss—a scoop of french vanilla, a friendly server who actually enjoyed his job, and willing to provide samples for the curious . Loved it. Then came my 2nd visit with my family during lunch the next day… and let’s just say, the vibe completely changed. The server this time looked like she’d rather be anywhere else, and treating us like a nuisance for using a PWD discount? If that's how you treat elders, its not a good look shame on you. Only 2 patrons were dining in, so there's no rush to be anywhere else. Why not cater to the customers in front of you than wishing to chitchat with your coworkers. Oh, and the scoop sizes? Apparently, they’re based on mood, because mine was noticeably smaller than before, I wish I had taken a pic so there was a comparison—let's be real, its a scoop of icecream, there's nothing instagramable about it. By visit #3 (which I sat out because I was already over it), my other half got an even smaller scoop. At this point, I’m convinced they eyeball portions based on how much they like you. Ice cream is good not too sweet. It's light and airy, but inconsistent service and stingy scoops while feeling unwelcomed and looked down on? Not...
