My quest to introduce my partner to the vibrant tapestry of Georgian cuisine took a frustrating detour on the evening of April 10th, landing us at a well-regarded Armenian-Georgian restaurant in Łódź. Let's just say, the journey ended quicker than a khachapuri's shelf life at my house - gone in 60 seconds!
My intention was simple: to share the joy of Georgian hospitality - that warm, inviting feeling that elevates the experience beyond mere sustenance. Sadly, the initial encounter fell flatter than a lobiani after being sat on by a hungry Georgian grandma.
The moment we stepped inside, the atmosphere felt… different. The promised Georgian charm seemed to have been replaced by a certain… chill. Instead of a welcoming smile, we were met with a less-than-enthusiastic waiter whose demeanor suggested he'd rather be herding sheep in the Caucasus mountains than guiding us through the menu.
The disappointment was palpable. The air, thick with anticipation, was quickly replaced by a thick, awkward silence. It was a classic case of "bad vibes" radiating from the single point of contact. In that moment, the promise of succulent khinkali and fragrant spices evaporated, replaced by the urgent need to find, well, anything else.
And so, we left. As quickly as we arrived. Our Georgian adventure aborted before it even began.
Based on other reviews I've since perused, perhaps we dodged a bullet. Maybe the food, hidden behind that initial wall of indifference, wouldn't have lived up to the hype anyway.
The lesson learned? Sometimes, a bad first impression is all you need. In this case, the lack of Georgian warmth pushed us towards a different culinary adventure, one where we hopefully found both delicious food and a welcoming atmosphere. As for this particular Armenian-Georgian establishment? Let's just say, it remains a mystery, and one I'm not particularly...
Read moreThe place is in the city centre next to Piotrkowska street, it is small and tired, flimsy tables , poor decorations, does not reflect any climate or origin you feel in nowhere! Internes of food we had kind of lamb dumplings with no or trace lamb in them, the presentation of the food was poor and not welcoming at all! This put me off to order more things to try! They got good beer and it was tasty for the palat! I think Polish people are not used to lamb, expensive kind of meet and the specific smell of it put majority of people off hence Lavash will use no lamb or small amount of that just to keep itself going! The food was served very quick and the dishes were taken very fast the feeling is like in fast food not relaxing restaurant, the lady waiter was going fast and nervous bless her she wanted to give the expression she is fast effective efficient and responsive, for me it looked funny. Quality ( service atmosphere food people money) as I put 3...
Read moreOur first time here was great, so we decided to give it another shot yesterday. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to our expectations.
We waited over 35 minutes for our order, and when it finally arrived, the meat was so dry it was like chewing on shoe leather. We ended up canceling our order.
One of the waitresses seemed really worn out and in a sour mood right from the get-go, which makes me think the restaurant might be understaffed for the number of customers they're serving. The place was packed, and they just couldn't keep up.
I was surprised they didn't offer to remake the meal. It seems like the kitchen was probably...
