recently visited a traditional Polish restaurant, and it was a delightful experience that combined a warm atmosphere with authentic flavors.
Atmosphere and Décor The décor is inspired by the traditional Polish countryside, with wooden furniture and soft lighting that makes you feel like you’re in a cozy village home. The calm background music and overall atmosphere add to the authenticity.
Service: The service was excellent. The staff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. Their recommendations were spot on and helped us choose some truly delicious dishes. A special thank you to our server, Liza, who was exceptionally kind and professional. Her warm smile and attention to detail made our dining experience even more enjoyable. Thank you, Liza, for your wonderful service!
Food: I tried the pierogi (stuffed dumplings), which were absolutely delicious—especially the ones filled with potatoes and cheese. The żurek (sour rye soup with sausage) was hearty and full of flavor. I also had the bigos (hunter’s stew), which was rich and comforting, capturing the essence of traditional...
Read moreCame in on a whim as it looked busy. Got seated quickly at the window. Staff were very helpful, our server Daria was polite and welcoming, offering advice in what to get, as well as sauce suggestion and the cooking style of the pierogi (had them fried). Food came out at a quick pace, given how busy it was. Ordered the megamix which allowed you to choose from multiple different styles of both types of pierogi (4 smaller ones and 2 larger ones). They were great, especially the smaller ones and particularly the spicy flavours. Mocktails were really nice as well, ordering one that looked pretty and tasted a lot like strawberry and another similar to a mojito. Overall a great experience, with reasonable pricing and would come again. Would also like to mention we had another amazing server, whose name I didn't get, was great to talk with, as she spoke English and was asking a lot about why we were here in Lodz. Made us feel...
Read moreI had a great Friday evening at Pierogarnia Stary Młyn Łódź with friends! The place specializes in pierogi, and they’ve got an awesome selection with some really unique fillings—way better than the usual boring ones you see everywhere. Loved the oven-baked option; it’s a cool twist on the classic boiled pierogi. Only thing missing for me was deep-fried pierogi—let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a bit of deep-fried goodness? 😉 They’ve got plenty of choices for vegetarians and vegans too, which is a plus. Drinks were a bit on the hipster side, and I missed something with bourbon (personal taste!), but they were fine overall. Our server Marta was fantastic—super friendly, attentive, and her English was a lifesaver for me as a non-Polish speaker. We’ll definitely be back! As a side note, I think some fun fillings like chorizo, feta, goat cheese, or ground beef for example could work great in pierogi - just my personal...
