I actually went to this restaurant by accident because I was googling where to find great fish and chips in Gdansk and it popped up as the first recommendation. I realized it was vegan when we got there but I decided to give it a shot, since I have tried nearly every vegan meat before and enjoyed it. The vegan fish and chips was probably the worst meal I have ever had. The 'fish' tasted like bread and the fried breading was dense, limp, and soggy. It was like stuffing my mouth with a handful of flour. I mean, can't at least the breading be nice or do they think vegans like to suffer just for the sake of it? The basil 'soyannaise' had the texture and flavor of glue. It all literally made me feel sick. I am not a picky eater at all and have enjoyed vegan food many a time but this one was inedible. No spicing to speak of - not even a touch of salt that I could detect. It reminded me of hippie mothers of friends in the 70s who went on health kicks and experimented with food that made no one want to stay overnight. My mother and I were the only guests in the entire restaurant but it took ages for the food to come and 10 minutes for extra tartar sauce, desperately needed to make the ball of flour edible, to finally be delivered even though there were 5 people on staff. I only give two stars because my mom's couscous salad looked nice and she said it was fairly good. Whoever thinks this dish is great must be living on another spiritual plane that has...
Read moreI’m truly glad that a place like this exists in Gdańsk—my overall experience was enjoyable, and I genuinely want to support this business. It has great potential, and I hope to see it thrive.
That said, there are a few areas that could benefit from improvement.
Firstly, the air circulation is noticeably lacking. During our visit, the space felt stuffy, and there was a clear absence of fresh air, which made the environment uncomfortable. After leaving, we had to wash all our clothes due to the lingering odors—something that really shouldn’t be the case for guests or staff.
Secondly, the service could be more attentive. Although there were three staff members behind the bar near us, our dirty plates remained on the table for over 10 minutes. Even after we called someone over, we had to specifically ask for them to be cleared. This happened despite the restaurant not being particularly busy at the time.
As for the food, it was pleasant but somewhat underseasoned. A little more attention to flavor and presentation could elevate the dishes to match the pricing and overall dining experience.
Despite these issues, I do plan to return. I believe in this place, and I’m confident that with some adjustments, it can become a standout spot. I would still recommend it, especially with the hope that these areas will...
Read moreMaybe a 4.5 instead of 5, but would definitely be an injustice to give it a 4 (and even a 4.5 would be a bit harsh as the restaurant definitely deserves its high ratings).
We actually went to the restaurant two days in a row after being so impressed the first time.
Service was really good and all the food was very well made with high quality ingredients. Plenty of variety also and a well put together menu. The starters in particular were very tasty and actually quite filling on their own. The vegan wine was also nice and prices were very reasonable considering the standard.
Only reason for it maybe not being a true 5/5 is that I was a little disappointed by the mains the second night. They were still good but lacked a little flavour, although that may be down to my girlfriend requesting no spice on the chow mein. Considering all the food is vegan I understand it’s a little harder to produce as much flavour compared to animal products, and as a meat eater I was still overall very happy with the flavours of most of the dishes/meat alternatives.
Overall would definitely recommend - a high quality vegan experience with excellent service and...
