This place was excellent and a 6/5 stars for me! My husband is Polish and his mom and grandma make pierogis frequently so there were large boots to fill but fill them they did!
We went on a Thursday and a reservation was not necessarily needed but would have gotten us in faster to the restaurant. If you’re more than 3-4 I recommend a reservation. Note that parties of 8 or more have gratuity auto added to the bill.
The inside has a lot of space including a basement where the kitchen and toilets (gender neutral) are situated. The menu is very large so I took extensive pictures. I started with a dandelion lemonade which I really enjoyed! I wish it was a bit bigger but I’m an American in Europe and understand the smaller sizes. My dining partner got a liter of Kózel beer which he highly enjoyed.
For appetizer we got fresh bread and some kind of hummus/chickpea spread that was very good. Not a large appetizer but a sample of the amazing tastes that were to come.
I had never seen baked pierogi so I ordered 3 different ones and they are indeed the size of a fist. I had the smoked cheese one, the spinach and garlic, and the chicken one. My favorite was by far the smoked cheese! I ordered sour cream as a sauce but my dining partner ordered the dill sauce and I wish I had had that one. Additionally he ordered the spicy beef pierogi and our other dining partner ordered the seasonal asparagus pierogi which were boiled and not baked. Everything was excellent!
I ordered a seasonal strawberry shortcake pierogi to go. It was more like fried bread than shortcake but still very good. Also, since everything they do is local and they have products you can buy, I bought some honey and pine syrup which I’m very excited to try. Both very reasonable at 20 PLN each. I did not pay for the bill but all prices seemed very reasonable.
I loved everything about this place from the farm to table concept, the excellent pierogi, and the warm and cozy atmosphere. I would absolutely come here again if I...
Read moreThere appear to be two locations for this restaurant, and both were absolutely packed, which, in Poland, is usually a sign you’re about to eat something amazing. If there’s a line, you’re in the right place.
We originally went to the older location and were told there’d be a 45-minute wait. Instead, we headed to the newer location, conveniently located right in our hotel.
We were seated and greeted by Konrad, who was super friendly, polite, and genuinely helpful. His recommendations turned our meal into a fantastic experience. He mentioned the wait for food might be up to 45 minutes, but that appetizers would come out first.
We started with the rosół (Polish chicken soup), which was flavorful and comforting, and the buttery dough braids served with margarine and a Polish-style Parmesan—simple but delicious.
For our main course, we both ordered the baked pierogi, some filled with chicken, others with rib meat. Despite the quoted wait, our food came much faster. These aren’t your standard pierogi. They’re about the size of a fist, incredibly light and airy, with a flavorful dough and generously packed with filling. Getting through three was a challenge in the best way.
Konrad checked in with us a few times to make sure we were happy with everything, and thanks to him, the service and meal were truly fantastic.
If you’re in Gdańsk and love pierogi, you absolutely need to try this place. You won’t be...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible experience from start to finish. We waited over 30 minutes just to be seated, while staff walked past us repeatedly and completely ignored us until we finally asked again if they even had a table. The response? Arrogantly telling us, “If you want to sit outside and it rains, you’ll still have to pay even if your food never comes.” What kind of service is that? Thankfully it didn’t rain, but things only got worse.
Once seated, we tried to get someone to take our order — at least 10 times we tried to get their attention. Every single time, they looked directly at us and then walked away, deliberately ignoring us. When someone finally acknowledged us after we asked directly if we could order, the waiter rolled his eyes and rudely said he’d “get another waiter” for us. At that point, my husband got up and confronted him, asking why he was talking to us like that. The fact that he even had to say that shows how awful and disrespectful the treatment was.
I was especially upset because I wanted my husband and our friends, who are visiting from India, to try traditional Polish food for the first time. Instead, they were met with arrogance, rudeness, and outright discrimination.
This was the worst dining experience ever. If you are not white or Polish, do not go here — you will be ignored, disrespected, and left waiting forever just to even get seated. Absolutely...
