On my last trip to Gdańsk, I was desperately hunting for something spicy. After several disappointing attempts at Chinese restaurants, I randomly stumbled upon a place called Shanti. What happened next blew my mind. The food wasn’t just good—it was unforgettable. I remember telling everyone back home that I had one of the best Indian meals of my life in the most unexpected corner of Poland.
Not long after, life took me to India itself. Naturally, I went on a mission—trying different restaurants, chasing that same flavor, hoping to find something that could match what I had tasted at Shanti. But nothing came close. The craving stuck with me.
So, now that I’m back in Gdańsk, there was no way I was missing a return visit. Tonight, I went back to Shanti for dinner, expecting a great meal—but what I got was so much more.
The moment I sat down, one of the staff looked at me and said, “You were here before, right? You were seated outside.” I was stunned. That visit had been nearly 10 months ago. Halfway through my dinner, another man approached me and said, “It’s not your first time here—I remember you.” That man turned out to be the owner.
And that’s when the magic happened.
What started as small talk about how much I loved the food turned into something unexpected. He invited me across the street to his new restaurant—just six weeks old. We sat down, and somewhere between finishing my wine and starting on rum, the conversation took a turn. We talked about life, about what we do, and about his two sons, who inspire everything he’s working for.
And then, somehow, the conversation drifted to Vedanta—the very philosophy that had once shifted my entire outlook on life. The same teachings I’ve carried within me but often forget… neglect… or drift away from as life gets in the way.
What was supposed to be a quick dinner at 8 PM turned into a deep, soul-nourishing conversation that stretched past midnight. Sitting there, I was reminded of everything I’d learned but had let slip: To live with intention. To practice gratitude, even for the smallest things. To realign with my journey toward inner peace and happiness. And most importantly—that while finding happiness from within may be difficult, looking for it anywhere else is impossible.
Life is funny like that. It knows exactly when to nudge you, when to send you the reminders you didn’t know you needed, just when you need them most.
So here’s a reminder for you too, if you’re reading this: Happiness isn’t out there waiting to be found. It’s inside you—closer than you think. Sometimes all it takes is one meal, one conversation, or one visit to Shanti to...
Read moreAt Shanti restaurant in Gdańsk, our culinary journey was elevated by an exquisite selection of dishes that tantalized our taste buds and left us craving for more. Among the culinary treasures we savored were the delectable chicken lollipop, the crispy salmon pakora, the flavorful ajwaini fish, and the spicy chili chicken along with Indian beers.
Each dish was a symphony of flavors, meticulously prepared to perfection and served with elegance. The chicken lollipop delighted us with its succulent meat and tangy marinade, while the salmon pakora impressed with its crunchy exterior and tender fish within. The ajwaini fish, infused with aromatic spices, melted in our mouths, leaving behind a lingering sensation of satisfaction. And the chili chicken, with its fiery kick and bold flavors, added an exciting twist to our dining experience.
These culinary delights, combined with the warm hospitality of Mr. Naveen, created a dining experience that transcended mere sustenance. It was a celebration of culture, tradition, and the joy of sharing delicious food with loved ones. Our evening at Shanti will forever remain etched in our memories, a testament to the culinary artistry and heartfelt hospitality that define this remarkable restaurant.

Read moreAbsolutely phenomenal. At last, there is excellent Indian food in Gdansk. I have been waiting 20 years.
The owner is lovely, open, kind and interesting and we enjoyed speaking with him.
Ordered both lamb and chicken dishes: lamb had just been imported from Greece and was excellent quality. Everything seemed to be made by hand, fresh, including the lovely samosas which were rich with flavor.
The Palak Paneer was one of the best I've had (it can often be quite a boring dish IF badly made) and yet here the touch of fresh sprigs of ginger and some spices in the spinach made the dish amazingly flavorful. Really enjoyed it.
The second time we came we tried new dishes, excellent lamb and chicken, and for the first time tried their dish with fenugreek which I highly recommend if you like Palak paneer. Their jogurt sauce is something I also recommend, and the Dal Tadka, especially after it cooled down you could taste all the spices fuse together.
Excellent prices, central location, great service and good quality.
**Aesthetically, decor lovely and comfortable, with beautiful silverware and serving dishes. I often also judge restaurants by the effort they put into their restrooms. These were gorgeous, beautiful bathrooms with a bench, artwork, copper sink basin, blue wooden vanity, lovely touch of copper and blues throughout - - they went full luxury with the bathroom design, I...
