Aleje Smaku — Restaurant in Katowice

I ate there before and the food wasn't amazing, but it was decent enough to go back. Today however Aleje Smaku made my "never again" list. I ordered "placki po wegiersku" which are potato pancakes with goulash and my husband had pierogi. We waited for about 20 minutes for the order to come and when I had it in front of my eyes I noticed a hair in my plate, on the left hand-side, wrapped around the only outstanding piece of red pepper on the plate. I am 5 months pregnant and I do not have a strong stomach nowadays hence I decided to return it. To show the hair to the waitress my husband took it out and put it on the side of the plate. She took the plate immediately and advised she would replace it with a new portion. I was 1. worried they would bring to me the same portion again and 2. angry that if they brought me a new one, it would take very long to make it and I was very hungry. As it happened, on the second try it took only 5 minutes for my food to come back together with a 15% discount and the denial of the waitress that it was the very same portion of food. I looked on the plate and I saw an extra type of salad (last one had 2) on the spot where we put the hair to show it to her. I thought to myself that they could have waited 5 more minutes and then bring it, just as to try a bit harder to make it look like it was a new portion. Being hungry, I decided to just not think about it and eat the food because I was starting to be too sick to complain, but another detail got my attention: one piece of outstanding red pepper on the left hand-side of the plate. Just that this time it was a bit more outstanding than the last time and while they probably mixed a bit the sauce on the top of the pancake, another hair revealed itself wrapped around the piece of pepper. What are the chances for this to happen on two different plates? I guess when my husband pulled out the hair, it broke and part of it remained in the food. I took the plate back to the bar, where I found the same waitress. Got no apologies at all. Of course, they didn't dare to...

Wchodząc w lokalu panowała napięta atmosfera, zwyczajnie nieprzyjemna. Jeśli porównać wystrój do innych lokali jest po prostu zwykły. Nic nas nie zachwyciło, począwszy od obsługi, która również nie była zbyt przyjemna i profesjonalna. Menu składa się z wielu dań, które w praktyce nie istnieją w lokalu,pytając o wybrany posiłek, słowo które przeważało brzmiało,, nie ma,, - co nie powinno mieć miejsca w tego typu restauracji. Jeśli dotyczyłoby to jednej czy dwóch pozycji byłoby to całkowicie do zrozumienia, ale nie było niczego z kilku dań, na które ewentualnie mogłybyśmy się zdecydować, a kelnerka jeszcze dodatkowo podała nam jeszcze dodatkowe dania, których nie mozemy zamówić. W końcu zdecydowałyśmy się na zupę dnia, która o dziwo była możliwa do zamówienia. Pieczarkowa z rozgotowanymi pieczarkami, zbyt ostro doprawiona. Okazała się w granicach tolerancji, mimo wszystko nie zdecydowalybyśmy się tam zamówić dania głównego, a właściwie chyba po za pizza nie było wiele możliwych dań do zamówienia, co ponownie podkreślam. Udając się tam, gość musi się liczyć się z tym, że cudem może dostać tam na co faktycznie ma ochotę tam przyjść - prawdoposobnie to akurat nie będzie dzisiaj serwowane.Do zupy zamówilysmy chlebki z masłem czosnkowym,chlebek został zamówiony wraz z zupą, w tym samym przedziale czasowym. Każdy racjonalnie myślący człowiek wpadł by na pomysł, że chlebek ma służyć jako dodatek do zupy, nie oddzielny posiłek,a my otrzymaliśmy talerz zupy, po czym oczekiwalyśmy na chlebek.Zupa stawała się zimna,a oczekiwanie było na ciepły posiłek.Czekalysmy 5 minut, wciąż obsługa nie podała dodatku.Zjadłysmy zupę, poczekałysmy następne 5 minut(łącznie około 15) po czym zapytałysmy obsługi co z naszym dodatkiem,dostalysmy informacje, że,, szef kuchni,, włożył do pieca i powinny być zaraz gotowe. Po przyniesieniu obsługa zaznaczyła, że informacja o otrzymaniu zupy wraz z dodatkiem trzeba powiedzieć zamawiając.Istna porażka,skoro jest to dodatek to oczywiste że chcemy otrzymać go wraz z daniem, jak widać nie dla każdego to takie jasne. Masło czosnkowe do chlebka całkiem smaczne, co chyba jest jedynm plusem w tym lokalu. Wyszłyśmy z niesmakiem i nie polecamy tego miejsca, jezt mnóstwo imnych lokali w Katowicach, gdzie można tanio, smacznie zjeść, nie mając nic miejscu do zarzucenia. W przypadku tego lokalu mozna byloby o tym...

A taste of home – even far from home

I had the traditional Silesian dish here and it was absolutely delicious. It instantly reminded me of that scene in Ratatouille when the critic takes a bite and is transported back to his childhood — that’s exactly how I felt.
