Having just returned from a 4 night stay at the INX Design Hotel following our first visit to Krakow I will say that this was a very good place to stay. The hotel is in the Jewish Quarter and is located on one of the main streets which can be quite busy with traffic. Don't be put off by the building next door to the hotel having a bit of graffiti on it as this doesn't detract from the hotel itself as the area did feel really safe. We arrived quite late at the hotel but staff spoke English and check-in was straight forward enough. We had room 309 on the 3rd floor which is a twin room and is street facing. The room was quite spacious and was well equipped with a couple of lamps which double up as side tables on the side of each of the beds and with which you can change the colour of the lights using a remote control, a large screen tv which did have some English channels, a telephone, a couple of chairs, storage space (although no drawers), safe, a mini bar which was stocked although we didn't use it. Tea and coffee making facilities and also there was a jug which can be filled with unlimited filtered water from a machine at the end of the corridor. The bathroom had a hairdryer along with a shower, toilet and sink and the room was nice and clean. The bed which had one pillow and a cushion was comfortable enough and overall we had a good sleep each night. It should be noted however that if you are a light sleeper, you may want to request a room at the other side of the hotel as although I'm not sure what the view is from those rooms, the road facing rooms can be a bit noisy as there are regular trams which go past the hotel and these can be heard and although they didn't affect our sleep, for some people this maybe an issue. Although the windows did open a little bit, I don't think you could keep these open during the night because of the traffic. The room also had air-con which we definitely needed as there were some warm days when we were there. The room was also cleaned daily and the towels replaced if you want them to be. We did pre-book breakfast although this can be added once at the hotel for an additional charge and we found there was a good variety of food with a choice of hot food as well as continental breakfast choices and the times we had breakfast there was always ample tables and staff in the restaurant were always quick to clean the tables. We didn't utilise the hotel bar during out stay or the gym/sauna facilities so I cannot comment on those. The reception area did have a variety of seating if you wanted to relax there prior to going out or after returning to the hotel. WI-FI in the hotel which was free and was sufficient and we never had any issues with connectivity or speeds. Location was very good with a lot of places within walking distance although as mentioned earlier the trams pass the hotel on a regular basis and also buses if you are able to navigate around once on them but we only ever walked. The old town is about a 15-20 minute walk in one direction and the likes of Schindlers Factory took us around 15 minutes to get to in the other direction. There is also a lovely quaint square with more places to eat and drink only 5 minutes walk from the hotel so definitely walking around is the best way to find and see things but from the hotel you will be able to travel to a lot of places. Just a quick tip, when travelling from the airport try and use Bolt as this only cost us 59 zlotys which is around £12 so if you can I'd recommend using that rather than jumping into a random taxi where the price might be put on the meter. Using Bolt or Uber/Lyft will mean you'll know the price of the ride when its booked. All in all we had an enjoyable stay at the INX Design Hotel and I'd have no hesitation recommending it with just a couple of small issues which I've mentioned in this review which might impact...
Read moreUnfortunately they overbooked so when we arrived at 03:30, they told us there was no room for us because of a system error. They told us to walk 10 mins away to another hotel and we could stay there, we had to pay for the other hotel initially but finally negotiated a refund for it the next day. At 03:30, we were not impressed, I had even emailed the hotel at 00:00 to let them know we'd be late because of the plane being diverted and they said that it was fine, we could still check-in.
The bed was comfy but could do with more pillows. The shower was warm and powerful and bathroom was modern but could do with a fan. The room was big enough for 2 for 5 nights, very modern and lots of great lighting.
Breakfast was included, not a huge selection of hot food but what was there was good quality. They usually had scrambled eggs, kielbasa, breads, cheese, vegetables, fruit, yoghurt, cereal, croissants - they had banana pancakes one day too that were tasty! You can get a free drink at the bar too on check-in. Bottled water in the room tasted really weird though.
Cleaning was questionable - the mugs were never cleaned/replaced during the stay. Toiletries were not topped up during the stay. They left fruit in the room on day 1 and they let it sit there for a few days despite putting it near the bin.
The TV in the room was constantly disconnecting and turning off, it made the TV unwatchable for more than a few minutes. I reported this to the hotel but nothing was done to fix it (room 306 if you want to fix it).
Location was decent, a 20 minute walk to old town/christmas market but also 15 minutes walk from Schlinders factory and Zabłocie (to get the train to Wieliczka). Lots of great coffee shops nearby too. Sushi show and Tbilisuri were great options for dinner nearby.
Given the price, I expected a lot more cleaning wise and being able to check-in the first night. The staff were less than helpful about...
Read moreWe booked two queen rooms from December 28th to January 1st. Despite specifically requesting (three times) two single beds in one of the rooms, we arrived to find that this request had been overlooked by the receptionist. Both the comments and booking chat box were ignored, and we were given a double bed. However, we were able to change rooms the following day, which was appreciated. The rooms appeared much more spacious in the photos than in reality. While cozy, they are quite small, with limited space for suitcases and a wardrobe that isn’t large enough for longer stays. During our stay, towels and bed linens were not changed, although the cleaners did make the beds daily. Parking is available next to the hotel but comes with an additional cost. The parking gate is not automatic, so you have to call reception each time you want it opened, which can be inconvenient. The location is decent, with a tram stop right at the hotel's entrance that provides direct access to Krakow’s main square and city center. Breakfast was a highlight, offering a wide variety of high-quality options. The jacuzzi and sauna are free to use, but you need to book a time slot in advance, especially during busy periods like Christmas. Overall, it was an acceptable stay, but the hotel does not meet the standards of a 4-star...
