Pimiento Argentino — Restaurant in Krakow

This is going to be a difficult review especially after reading the reviews here where many complain about the same problem of bad service mostly.

Our first impressions of the restaurant was great, nicely decorated and a good setting until we approached the Manager/Maitre D'. My girlfriend made a little joke as we did not reserve, and should have been fine on a Monday evening which was thrown back to her by her. We went to this steakhouse on a local recommendation that the meat is excellent and maybe the best in Krakow, so we went there with no judgement.

As mentioned after reading the reviews, the atmosphere among the waiters was very strange, like if every worker was in a bad mood creating a very weird service level when you consider this is a "fine" dining restaurant with a price tag on it.

I am trying to keep it short, however so much to say about this lovely restaurant, charging you excessive prices, one would expect the same level of service, welcome and professionalism. I am sorry but the service is way under par and if you are looking for a good service, I would avoid this restaurant as seems to be a regular complaint which we felt.

Now, the meat - yes it is very good, our 1Kg Tomahawk was cooked to perfection from the Chef, and the Chef knows how to cook meat, that's for sure. The quality though is not good enough, it was good, but when you pay 100€ for a steak you expect the BEST, nothing less - they need to find a better source simple!

The Wine List!!!! It's ridiculously expensive, only those who do not wine will be caught by the prices, thinking it is a great wine due to the high cost. Those who know would NEVER PAY this in a restaurant or even a club with 500% mark ups on 9€ wines!! Seriously, wines on average were in the regions of way over 70 € each bottle! Beware of the wine there if you like a nice red wine with your meat! (I do, and i had a dark Polish beer with mine)

A Special mention goes to Monika, our waitress who actually smiled and at the start was probably the only one with a smile and she really took care about us. The others however, not sure if they had a fight earlier between them or someone broke up with someone within the restaurant, however you could cut the air with a knife between them.. This, in my experience is unacceptable when you will pay 50€+ a head minimum in Poland!

I am frustrated writing this review, and i hope the manager, owner, director, reads the comments on here, most of them and sees the regular complaints and changes those issues - it has so much potential to be the greatest Steakhouse in Krakow, and it fails due to maybe three factors that need fine tuning; Service Training, a new Meat supplier to match the high costs and a completely new design of the wine list and cost structure... I have never seen mediocre wine being sold at great wine value. (as an example in another restaurant nearby, we had a 2010 Chateau Margaux which was cheaper than a 2017 Malbec or 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon from Argentina or one many know a Chateauneuf du pape...

Food was amazing. Service however was not with a smile... unless you flashed the cash. We were a walk in table of 4 and whilst we are all big food lovers (and spenders) we were all cold and tired so, unusually, we all just fancied a nice steak burger each (which was a very reasonable 70pzl per burger.) This seemed to go down like a lead balloon with our waiter. In any event, there were only 2 left apparently so i ordered veal and my friend ordered rib steak and the others had burgers. However, the waiter from then on only seemed happy if we were spending more money (wine/desserts coffee etc) which not everyone did meaning he was quite obviously friendly towards me only (wine/dessert/coffee lover). The rest of the time he seemed to sulk at the rest of my party. Service was prompt. Food was delicious. However the waiter was sullen and brought the atmosphere down spoiling it all, especially when we left with him slamming the door behind us (I'm unsure if this was accidental but it followed his mood so is unlikely). Shame really that the staff came across as unnecessarily snobbish as we couldn't...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at a restaurant that left a lasting impression on my taste buds - the steak was truly exceptional! The restaurant's calm atmosphere made the dining experience even more enjoyable.

From the moment I stepped inside, I was struck by the elegant decor and soothing ambiance. The staff were warm and welcoming, and quickly seated me at a cozy table with a great view. As I perused the menu, I was impressed by the variety of dishes on offer, but ultimately decided on a steak.

When my meal arrived, I could immediately tell that it was going to be an explosion of taste - the aroma alone was heavenly. And when I took my first bite, I was not disappointed! The steak was cooked to perfection, juicy and tender, and the seasoning was just right. The sides were equally delicious, and complemented the steak perfectly.

Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an upscale dining experience with delicious food and a calm atmosphere. While it is a little bit expensive, I believe the quality of the food and the overall experience make it...
