Years back thanks to my friend from Malaysia I have discovered Asian food. And yes I had Chinese / thai / Vietnamese take aways. But that was bit like licking ice cream through glass. Thanks to her I have discovered what's truly amazing in Asian food. And more importantly it's magic of street food. And thanks to her I've learned how use chopsticks. Wouldn't call a skill, it's just cutlery used to eat. But somehow this form of eating food let's you enjoy it in different way. And I'll get back to it in a second.
Now the place itself. It's a hidden gem if you up to exploring. It looks like a place to a different dimension. Quite literally. Outside is loads of tourists and nicely dressed people while inside... You it doesn't look much comfortable. And that's the real beauty of it. If you ever see any Asian street food you'll see this palce. And that's just spot on. I started with spicy Thai soup with chicken and lemon grass and coconut. I was expecting to kha gai and I get everything like that except it wasn't. It was red, and more spicy and less coconuty and slightly lemon grassy and it was different. And I couldn't for the love of god catch it what's so special about it. But it was. It was so mutch that I sad when it was gone. I quite literally wanted to lick the bowl to enjoy all of it. But I had to keep civilised. Well for once in my life that is. Then it was gongbao chicken which I tried and I also tried broccoli with garlic... And i have stuffed my self with those. Brocoli was the star if the show. How can you from something such boring like broccoli do such amazing dish is beyond my understanding but I loved it. I took bit or rice, put bit of salad and dipped it in garlic sauce from broccoli. And I was in heaven.
Oh and salad was great too. I suspect they had sprouts of... Ready? Radish. Yup you read it right. It tasted like radish, looked like tiny radish and it was amazing as such too. Sadly I was so stuffed with broccoli I couldn't finish chicken. So I have asked would it be a sin if I ask to bag it as a takeaway? Lass did that with no problem and I had it the following morning. Cold. I ate it with my fingers and I almost weep. It tasted even better that previous day as spices had time to marinade and intensify flavours. But also I knew it will be very long time before I visit this place again.
If they could only let you eat using chopsticks. I would just permanently put my tent outside this place so I could eat there...
