We stumbled upon Gate of India while exploring the area and noticed it was quite busy, so we decided to give it a try. For starters, we ordered the Veg Manchurian, which was flavorful but unfortunately had an excessive amount of artificial coloring — something that could easily be avoided. The Mango Lassi was a bit watery but still decent. For the main course, we ordered Butter Paneer, Veg Manchurian, Dal Tadka (requested at the highest spice level), Garlic Naan, and Jeera Rice. Sadly, the Butter Paneer, which is typically a staple and a safe bet at any Indian restaurant, was underwhelming. The Dal Tadka lacked both the promised spice and depth of flavor, even after specifically asking for it to be very spicy. The Garlic Naan was disappointing as well — it had barely any garlic and was quite rubbery in texture, making it difficult to enjoy. After the promising start with the Manchurian, the rest of the meal fell short of expectations. On a positive note, the service was attentive and friendly, and the location and ambience were fine. Overall, though, we left disappointed and wouldn’t recommend it if you’re looking for authentic, flavorful Indian food.

Food was okay not something unbelievable, the worse experience was with the waitress. I waited for more than 18 min so she can take my order. The drinks took another 10 min. The food took like 35 min! The server she’s not friendly at all!! Typical rude! She didn’t want to talk or suggest or provide any kind of advice! Don’t waste your time and try any other Indian restaurant in the area. Samosa was served without sauce. Sheesh kabab was cold while it was sizzling in the plate. Butter chicken was awesome. Shrimp Bryani was great. Butter nan was very good and tasty. Please note that the restaurant is almost empty only couple of tables. The worse choice I ever made. Please note that this restaurant is not wheelchair Or stroller friendly and don’t expect anyone to help you out to get into the restaurant by the stairs or by the door.

Tasted chicken biryani here, it was just fine.It was Hyderabadi biryani which was served and I asked them to make it spicy at level of 7/10 thinking it would be less spicy but i was wrong as it was too spicy. It's didn't taste like authentic Hyderabadi style though somewhat close to it. Not sure how it is in other Indian restaurants here, so can't really compare w.r.t Krakow standards. Had a look at menu and saw quite lot of Chinese food as well which is priced at moderate level.Tasted chicken fried rice, it tasted good like Indo-Chinese flavour though I'm big fan of Egg fried rice which they don't make. Their menu is quite elaborate unlike other Indian restaurants in Dietla area which is very limited. Would like to try some of those and see if it's good though from cost wise it seems bit better.

This was our third visit at this place together with my girlfriend. Yet again we came in hungry and anxious to have a memorable culinary experience and yet again we left full, completely satisfied and happy. The food is absolutely delicious and there is a nice variety of different dishes all in multiple versions: with chicken, lamb, cheese etc. So far I have been only trying dishes with chicken but there is a reason for it - the pieces of chicken are large but very tender and juicy, I find it simply too good to pass on.

I find the spices to be perfectly balanced and I recommend for everyone to experiment with spiciness level. As for me, most dishes benefit from spiceniess of no less than 4 out of 6. At this level, every single bite becomes an orchestra of so many flavours that it becomes unforgettable experience. It has easily become my favourite Indian restaurant to the point that I am unwilling to try others as I cannot imagine being able to top the meals that are being served here.

The staff is also very nice attentive to the customers. All the waiters are polite and helpful and they offer their recommendations if you are at loss as to what level of spicinessis the right one for you or what dish to choose. The first time that we came here, we were even served a Mango Lassi (15zł) for free - I simply enquired as to what it is and if it is any good and the waiter found it better to spare the words and he shortly came back with 2 sample glasses of the drink and let it speak for itself. This sort of gesture speaks a lot of the restaurant's approach to the customer and as a sidenote, Mango Lassi is REALLY good.

The place also looks very cosy and inviting and it is conveniently located. So far we haven't had trouble with having a free table for 2 with no prior reservation. The restaurant is at times bustling with customers and at others it is more quite. Nevertheless, it is still spacious enough so that it offers enough room for private conversations and on top of that the restaurant offers a garden space at the back of with a few tables.

The only small disadvantage is the price level - not exactly student friendly, but then again the prices are no different then in other restaurants in Kraków. Main dish is between (if I remember correctly) 35-45 zlotys, which is an average dinner price in Kraków but you still need to add a side dish to that. For example, I always take main dish + rice with cumin (delicious!) + Butter Naan bread, because I consider it a must (I know two side dishes is a lot but don't judge me - this combination is so good that I cannot help myself). It costs in total around 65zl. I would say that expected pay for the entire dinner main dish + side dish + drink is between 60-80zł at least. In my book however, the food is definitely worth it and the portions are large enough so that you might potentially have some leftovers to go.

Overall, we cannot recommend this place highly enough and we are looking forward to coming back and have another...

A Culinary Gem in the Heart of Kraków- A Must-Visit Restaurant

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Gate of an India, and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment you step through the gates, you're greeted by an ambiance that perfectly blends traditional Indian aesthetics with modern comfort. The attention to detail in the décor is truly commendable.

The menu offers a wide variety of dishes that celebrate the rich flavors of India. Each dish is thoughtfully prepared, bursting with authentic spices, and presented beautifully. Whether you're a fan of North Indian curries, South Indian delicacies, or anything in between, there's something to delight every palate.

What truly sets this restaurant apart is the warm hospitality of the owner, Shekar. His passion for food and dedication to providing an exceptional dining experience shines through in every aspect of the restaurant. Shekar takes the time to engage with guests, ensuring that every detail is taken care of and that everyone leaves with a smile.

The service is impeccable, with staff who are attentive, knowledgeable, and eager to make your meal special. The kitchen staff, under Shekar’s leadership, clearly take great pride in their craft, as every dish is a testament to their skill and love for Indian cuisine.

Whether you're a local or a tourist, Gate of an India is a place you must visit. It’s not just a meal; it's a culinary journey through India, all made more special by Shekar’s personal touch. I can't...

A Delightful Experience at Gate of India, Kraków;

I recently visited Gate of India in Kraków with friends for lunch, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. From the moment we stepped in, we were warmly welcomed by the staff, especially Ahmed, who attended to our table. His professionalism, attentiveness, and genuine friendliness truly stood out and enhanced our overall experience.

The ambience of the restaurant is simply beautiful—an elegant blend of traditional Indian decor with a modern touch. It felt warm, inviting, and perfect for a relaxed meal.

As for the food, it was nothing short of spectacular. We started with the crispy samosas and their signature mango lassi, both of which set the tone for the meal. For the main course, I opted for the butter chicken, paired with garlic naan and fragrant basmati rice. The flavors were authentic, rich, and incredibly satisfying. Ahmed made sure we were comfortable, offering insightful recommendations and even adjusting the spice levels to suit our preferences.

What truly impressed us was the impeccable service. Despite the restaurant being busy, Ahmed remained attentive and ensured every detail was taken care of. His pleasant demeanor and knowledge of the menu made our dining experience even more special.

I highly recommend Gate of India to anyone looking for authentic Indian cuisine in Kraków. A big shoutout to Ahmed for making our visit memorable. I’ll definitely be returning...
