This was our third visit at this place together with my girlfriend. Yet again we came in hungry and anxious to have a memorable culinary experience and yet again we left full, completely satisfied and happy. The food is absolutely delicious and there is a nice variety of different dishes all in multiple versions: with chicken, lamb, cheese etc. So far I have been only trying dishes with chicken but there is a reason for it - the pieces of chicken are large but very tender and juicy, I find it simply too good to pass on.
I find the spices to be perfectly balanced and I recommend for everyone to experiment with spiciness level. As for me, most dishes benefit from spiceniess of no less than 4 out of 6. At this level, every single bite becomes an orchestra of so many flavours that it becomes unforgettable experience. It has easily become my favourite Indian restaurant to the point that I am unwilling to try others as I cannot imagine being able to top the meals that are being served here.
The staff is also very nice attentive to the customers. All the waiters are polite and helpful and they offer their recommendations if you are at loss as to what level of spicinessis the right one for you or what dish to choose. The first time that we came here, we were even served a Mango Lassi (15zł) for free - I simply enquired as to what it is and if it is any good and the waiter found it better to spare the words and he shortly came back with 2 sample glasses of the drink and let it speak for itself. This sort of gesture speaks a lot of the restaurant's approach to the customer and as a sidenote, Mango Lassi is REALLY good.
The place also looks very cosy and inviting and it is conveniently located. So far we haven't had trouble with having a free table for 2 with no prior reservation. The restaurant is at times bustling with customers and at others it is more quite. Nevertheless, it is still spacious enough so that it offers enough room for private conversations and on top of that the restaurant offers a garden space at the back of with a few tables.
The only small disadvantage is the price level - not exactly student friendly, but then again the prices are no different then in other restaurants in Kraków. Main dish is between (if I remember correctly) 35-45 zlotys, which is an average dinner price in Kraków but you still need to add a side dish to that. For example, I always take main dish + rice with cumin (delicious!) + Butter Naan bread, because I consider it a must (I know two side dishes is a lot but don't judge me - this combination is so good that I cannot help myself). It costs in total around 65zl. I would say that expected pay for the entire dinner main dish + side dish + drink is between 60-80zł at least. In my book however, the food is definitely worth it and the portions are large enough so that you might potentially have some leftovers to go.
Overall, we cannot recommend this place highly enough and we are looking forward to coming back and have another...

I recently visited Gate of India in Kraków with friends for lunch, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience. From the moment we stepped in, we were warmly welcomed by the staff, especially Ahmed, who attended to our table. His professionalism, attentiveness, and genuine friendliness truly stood out and enhanced our overall experience.
The ambience of the restaurant is simply beautiful—an elegant blend of traditional Indian decor with a modern touch. It felt warm, inviting, and perfect for a relaxed meal.
As for the food, it was nothing short of spectacular. We started with the crispy samosas and their signature mango lassi, both of which set the tone for the meal. For the main course, I opted for the butter chicken, paired with garlic naan and fragrant basmati rice. The flavors were authentic, rich, and incredibly satisfying. Ahmed made sure we were comfortable, offering insightful recommendations and even adjusting the spice levels to suit our preferences.
What truly impressed us was the impeccable service. Despite the restaurant being busy, Ahmed remained attentive and ensured every detail was taken care of. His pleasant demeanor and knowledge of the menu made our dining experience even more special.
I highly recommend Gate of India to anyone looking for authentic Indian cuisine in Kraków. A big shoutout to Ahmed for making our visit memorable. I’ll definitely be returning...
