The Church of Saint Giles (Kościół Św. Idziego) in Kraków is a Roman Catholic church located in the Kazimierz district, one of the city's historic areas. The church was built in the 14th century, with its construction likely beginning around 1320. It was founded by the Benedictine monks and is dedicated to Saint Giles, a popular medieval saint known for his piety and care for the poor. Architecturally, the church is a fine example of Gothic style, with later Baroque additions. The interior features notable elements such as beautiful altars, stained glass windows, and paintings. Over the centuries, the church has served various religious and cultural purposes, and it remains an important part of Kraków’s religious heritage. The Church of Saint Giles is also recognized for its location near the Wawel Hill and other historical sites in Kraków, making it a part of the city’s broader cultural and religious landscape.

Christmas Day service in English at 1030. Lovely church. Peaceful and a good place to escape the main square and seek solace.

Stalle w prezbiterium z różnobarwnych marmurów, wapienia pińczowskiego, piaskowca i alabastru, z późnorenesansowego, baldachimowego nagrobka św. Jacka z jego kaplicy w kościele oo. Dominikanów w Krakowie, zestawionego w kościele św. Idziego w r. 1629.

Krucyfiks z około r. 1520 i figury Matki Boskiej i św. Jana z około r. 1470, na barokowej siedemnastowiecznej belce o wykroju trójlistnym. Obraz Matki Boskiej z Dzieciątkiem z w.

Beautiful church a stone's throw away from Wavel Castle. The Sunday service at 10.30am is simple and uplifting. A church member sang the hymns and liturgy without any instruments backing him and yet we didn't miss the choir. After the mass, the priest warmly thanked and elbow greeted parishioners as they left the church - quite a unique sight! There isn't any signage indicating the name of the church. So it is possible to miss the place unless you...
