Came with a high hopes and great expectations based on the reviews but left with a very mixed feelings. We ordered gyōza and ramen to start with followed by sushi and main dishes. Unfortunately the waitress could not advise on the sushi when asked and after many unanswered questions we settled on our own choices. For group of 4 the food came out in different times and by the time one of us got food the other was already finished. For a restaurant with such a high grade didn't think this was a thing. We got offered a dessert but for the service we already received this didn't feel right. Honestly the food overall was of great quality, everything was fresh very tasty and delicious. The food quality was 5 stars despite the long wait and lack of consistency in serving it. The staff on the other hand was a barely 3. The waitress although polite was somewhat arrogant and didn't make us feel welcome. With spending a lot of money and booking a table in advance one would have thought that the service would be up to the standard especially that we were the only table. Read moreAbsolutely five star as a Japanese customer. The quality of food is what you experience in Japan, the highest quality and taste.
My favorite is the Kingyo Ramen and ShabuShabu Ramen. If you like spicy, I recommend “Buta Kimchi Plate”. I always take it with a main dish. Sushi is also premium level that you can experience. I would say eat as much as you can while you have the chance to experience these premium real Japanese food! I always come to this restaurant for my prize of hard work.
It’s pretty hard to find a Japanese restaurant that satisfies Japanese people like me, but this restaurant is one of those restaurants for Japanese people, a place of home taste.
This restaurant is not one of those “Europeanized “ Japanese restaurants. This is the kind of restaurant I would be happy to bring my local friends, Japanese friends, or even my clients for work.
I cannot wait for the day this restaurant opens in...
Read moreA horrendous experience.
Half of our company got the meal in 10 minutes [before] the starter, which was very unprofessional. We're still waiting for the rest of the food.
The same half of our company had finished our food before the rest had even gotten it. The waitress payed no mind to us and spent the time chatting in the kitchen. The simple miso soup arrived after 40 minutes of wait, which is absolutely unacceptable when our food was the only one being prepared by the kitchen.
I would rather recommend that you only come here if you have time to waste. There are other places in the Old Town that can actually handle more than 5 guests at a time, unlike Kingyo.
This review was written while waiting longer than 1 hour for some rice and chicken in an empty restaurant, which would be average at best if we didn't find an eyelash in...
