Filoksenia / Chopin Cafe — Restaurant in Warsaw

The cafe downstairs is odd. I think, primarily, it is patronised by the upstairs B&B guests; at least, that was the impression I got from the casually-dressed man who stood up from a table and his, almost hostile, "Słucham pana!" when I walked in off the street one morning. Beautiful interior. After taking a seat, it became apparent there was no table service, so when my guest arrived the same undercover man took our order ... Incorrectly as it turned out. This small restaurant near the city center is a treasure. Run by lovely people who create a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere, it serves delicious, fresh local food with a home-made style. I stayed in Warsaw for ten days and never wanted to eat anywhere else. If you stay at the Chopin Boutique Hotel, in which the restaurant is located, you can even have breakfast, lunch and dinner there everyday, which is what I did. What a lovely B&B. It feels like home in the Cafe, and the food is delicious. The proprietors are very welcoming and engaging, and are in the Cafe preparing and assisting, never hovering. Fruits and vegetables sourced from their garden, local hen eggs, non preservative foods and their coffee roasted on premises. The nightly classical music concerts in the Salon are a joy, with a glass of wine. And to see the city and work off the breakfast or dinner, bicycles...
