Outstanding. The fact that the tables are equally occupied by locals as tourists shows that this is a great place to eat. Zapiecek is fantastic for tasting simple, wholesome, hearty, traditional Polish fare. They advertise that they specialise in Pierogi, but they offer so much more. The pierogi are definitely fresh which evidences in the dough's bite. Each one is well stuffed and will leave a small eater replete and a large eater not needing much more. The placek (fried grated-potato pancake) that comes with either goulash (stew) or a creamy mushroom topping is also excellent with the placek itself freshly grated for each order. I found the 'traditional' serving girl outfit to be a little peculiar, but it certainly adds to the traditional atmosphere. Unfortunately, after eating too heartily, I am unable to review the desserts, which appeared on other tables to be salivatingly tasty. However, the 'mulled' beer was a definite winner for the snowy winter's day on which we dined and the compote is also a very tasty (and apparently healthy) drink. The service was prompt and friendly, fitting with the style and imagery of a rustic tavern. The staff we had serving us all spoke English to varying degrees (they offer an English menu, so no problems with knowing what you'd like) and, even if translating some things into English proved too difficult, they still managed to convey meaning und understanding. As to the price - it is excellently economical. If you're on a budget, want to experience traditional Polish food and eat well, then this is the place for you. If you have a higher budget, I would hazard to guess that you won't find better tasting traditional food in a traditional-style setting for any more money that you could try to spend. To boot, they have Zapiecek restaurants all over this end of Warsaw - so there is always one close at hand when hunger strikes. Lastly, I was told by a Polish friend that 'zapiecek' means countryside, but the symbol of the eatery that is zapiecek is the tiled 'stove' or 'hearth' which is used as a decorative piece in the restaurant comes from a traditional country setting and would have an extension upon which bedding would be piled to provide warmth through the cold...
Read moreWe went to this restaurant with the intention of trying Polish cuisine, and I must say that I was thoroughly impressed. The Polish dumplings exceeded my expectations and left me craving for more. Not only were they incredibly delicious, but the IPA beer served at the restaurant also had a delightful taste that perfectly complemented the meal.
What surprised me even more was the affordability of the prices. Despite indulging in a satisfying meal for two, we were pleasantly surprised to find that the total bill was less than €50. This factor alone adds to the overall appeal of the restaurant, making it an excellent choice for those seeking great food without breaking the bank.
Beyond the culinary experience, the restaurant also boasts a pleasant atmosphere. The ambiance is inviting, creating a cozy and welcoming environment for diners. Additionally, the cleanliness of the toilets was noteworthy, reflecting the establishment's commitment to maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene.
The service provided by the waiters was also commendable. They were not only friendly but also efficient, ensuring that our orders were promptly taken and served. Their attentiveness and quick service contributed to an overall enjoyable dining experience.
If I had to recommend one dish from the menu, it would be the soup and sausage duo. The flavors in this combination are simply outstanding and offer a delightful blend of tastes that will leave your taste buds satisfied.
In conclusion, this restaurant offers a fantastic experience for anyone looking to indulge in authentic Polish cuisine. The delicious food, reasonable prices, pleasant atmosphere, and excellent service make it a top-notch choice. I highly recommend...
Read moreWORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!
we waited for the order for around 40 minutes; the desert (sweet “pyrogi”) was brought together with the main meal, so it was totally cold by the time we started eating it. but it’s not that big of a deal… the true reason I’m writing this negative review is that WE FOUND A STONE INSIDE ONE OF THE PYROGI (you can see it on the picture). and the worst thing is not even this fact alone, but how the restaurant “managed” this situation. the waitress called the manager, she took the dish away, said that she can bring us a new one, but we refused since we were quite full, so we asked to pack it. in another 15 minutes we received a package with leftover pyrogi (not a new dish, they just packed the ones that were left on a plate) and a check for the whole order. we refused to pay for this dish, so the waitress called the manager once again. and to our complain “how can they charge us for this nonsense? this meal was not eatable and could cause serious injury (broken tooth, choking, etc.; but thank God, we were lucky)” she said that “if we order a dish, we have to pay for it, and they do not put stones in pyrogi”. honestly, i was shocked, never had such a situation in my life! no “i’m sorry”, no compliment dish/ discount to make up for it, they just charge us fully and act like nothing happened!! obviously this case shows that CUSTOMER SERVICE and the reputation MEAN NOTHING...
