Charlotte — Restaurant in Wrocław

The ambience is nice, food just average and the service terrible. We have been there twice. Our first experience wasn't the best so we desided to give it another try since we liked the ambience and the location. Unfortunately today's visit was even worst. After we arrive there was a line. Since it was nice and warm outside we didn't mind waiting especially that there were empty tables already that just needed to be cleaned. Hovewer after 15minutes nothing has changed, the line didn't move - just got longer because new people arrived in the meantime. At one point the staff member took a couple that arrived after we did and got them seated - based on the way they were greated we can only assume they were friends with the staff. We didn't say anything but felt it was not nice nor fair. Finally after another 10min we got a table. The waiter handed us the menu and left. We picked our food and wanted to order but didn't get a chance to do it becasue every time we stopped someone we were told that the orders are taken in the order we arrived. Another 10minutes and noting had changed except from the fact that somebody that was seated after us ordered his food. At that point we had enough. We just left. Nobody from the staff said anything even though they all noticed we were leaving. Very disappointing experience. The only good thing about the place are their homemade chocolates spreads but after seeing today how they are stored (literally outside by the front door, not covered so anybody can sneeze around all all the bacteria goes inside - not very hygenic) I would consider having it again.

I understand they don't really care about service nor bad reviews because they are popular and busy right now. Well. . It will not last forever if they keep such a low standards especially in regards to the staff. The competition is...

Do not recommend. Maybe a matter of Sunday (later) morning peak time, but quite poor experience, definitely in light of what we expected from Charlotte. Started off with inconsistent service - some tables get a printed menu, some don't and are expected to check the QR code menu on a barely visible tab on the table - the server didn't even mention it so it took us a couple minutes to notice, while we waited for normal menus. Service was quite slow, 10+ minutes to get two black coffees (warm, not hot) and some foamed milk, easily 30+ for breakfast dishes. Two out of the three breakfast dishes were ok, but barely warm, obviously had been sitting at counter a while. One dish, pain perdu, was simply bad. Barely warm, one end was very soggy, the other hard (as if the bread had baked unevenly). Yogurt overly sweet. Presentation, especially of the pain perdu, was very poor and unappetising - some yogurt and jam messily slopped on piece of bread. If not for the fact it was late and we didn't want to risk the wrath of a hungry 4yr old, I would have sent the pain perdu back and asked to take off the bill, as unacceptable (something I have never done in my life, just to exemplify how bad an impression this made). Charlotte is a famous establishment in Wrocław so i expected excellence. We ordered breakfast with egg, and Dinde Majo sandwich. The sandwich felt poor inside, with small amount of Cranberries. Breakfast - nice amount of bread, but i would warm it a bit before serving. Also personally i dont like tough very crunchy crust. They serve soft boiled egg to eat with a spoon but only wooden knife to open it, which takes some of the magic away. The konfitur was nice. Especially the vanilla one. Cruisant was nice. Room temperature but felt fresh. We have a feeling that the waiter mixed our coffees. Was also a bit annoying to get his attention. Atmosphere: i dont like the arangement in the place. A very big table for a big group taking most of the room and stays empty most of the time. Menu - need to scan a code. Didnt open on my phone. Prices reasonable. Would we go again? Dont think so. There are other nicer places. We will leave this place for...
