A brilliant location - everywhere close! Just a minute's drive to Salt Square. When you register your voucher for a 20% discount in the restaurant and hotel bar - a nice surprise. Standard room large (20m2) spacious, plus very nice wooden floor instead of carpet. Noise-free air conditioning inflow, electronic temperature control in 0.5 degree increments. Good air conditioning filters (I am allergic to dust mites, and here I clean, no rhinitis (!). Full set of bathroom cosmetics. A huge TV set (50 inches? 55 inches?). HD quality channels. There is even TVN24, an iron and an ironing board in the room. Very cool relaxation zone, large pool, dry and wet sauna, jacuzzi (although the water in the pool could be slightly warmer and the need to click every 120 seconds to run the bubbles in the jacuzzi was slightly irritating). Breakfast is very good - freshly cut cheese ham, smoked salmon, two types of hard cheese, plenty of fresh fruit. I only missed juice pancakes and squeezers, which had already appeared in many of the competing hotels.
Lack of any hotel car park and parking places (possibility of parking on the underground car park in the National Forum of Music for 4 PLN /h and 96 PLN /day). The drive to the hotel even to unload the suitcases on the ban on movement (500 zł mandate and 5 penalty points). Four-star hotel with SPA and swimming pool and no bathrobes in the rooms - even on request. There is also a lack of a bathroom radiator on which to dry your swimsuit. There is no ShowerHeaven either. In the room there is a very uncomfortable folding chair with rungs on the seat, there is no lamp on the desk - the room is not suitable for business clients, who still have a moment to work in the room and have not come to the hotel just to try the strength of the hotel bed with their lover. I had to turn off the minibar fridge like a small drill. No alcohol or nuts in the minibar - soft-drinks, redbulbs, bars or crisps. In the room available only black or fruity strongly flavored tea, nobody thought that a guest who drinks green could come? Breakfast bought directly at the hotel costs 60 PLN, 10 PLN cheaper than the one bought at the time of booking (70 PLN), in contrast to other brands, where the breakfast bought at the time of booking is usually cheaper than the one bought at the place of booking. The hotel invoices breakfast separately as "Food & Beverages" instead of adding breakfast to the accommodation price. Very...
Read moreVery well located hotel, within the city center, across the Jewish quarter, the former exchange building, walking distance to everywhere. It is nested in the former Polish National bank building (and formerly German / Prussia Reich bank) an historical 19th century building. The venue is new and modern, blending into elements of Old architecture. Reception service is swift and professional. We got the 305# across the music forum, circa 23sqm, it has a nespresso machine in the room, a walk in shower, but the bathroom is closed by a light glass door only, fancy but... the room has limited storage for a family, more like a business hotel, with 2 drawers, but with a desk and a table and 2 chairs in addition of the opening sofa. Rooms are not so well sound proofed, we could hear people shouting in the streets and being close to the lifts we could hear loud guests at night on their way to their rooms. The pool is fantastic, 15m long, a small jacuzzi and a very nice gym too, all located in the basement, close to the former bank vault (ask to see it !). The restaurant is very good and service professional, prices reasonable overall, great cocktail bar too and a very nice courtyard too. Breakfast cost 25 Euros !!! Which is a sky high price in Poland, more like the price of a lunch in the restaurant actually, we didnt try it and went to a nice cafe in the Jewish quarter. The main let down was their house keeping, rooms were only half cleaned, like the floor not swiped, or totally forgotten even 1 day. Out of the 3 days we stayed, only once it was thorough and they did not have to come again. We signaled it every time but in a 5* venue we expected more. We paid 180€ a night, and we will come again, hopefully they ll sort the house cleaning weaknesses or lower their prices to reflect another standing. In Italy, this place qualify as a good 4, with the prices of...
Read moreI booked this hotel on points as I frequently stay in Marriott properties for my work.
I realized when we were traveling to Poland from Scotland that I had inadvertently double booked our nights in two cities. When I realized this it was only 24 hours from our stay. I tried to get in touch with hotel management but had wifi issues and was unable to. But I thought we could deal with it when we got to the hotel.
I explained the situation to the front desk when we got there and she said unfortunately I would be charged for the full night I did not stay and also for the breakfast we paid for but didn't eat. I sent a note into Marriott reservations and got a reply back that they could not do anything and I would be charged 100% for the night.
I understand this was totally my fault, but since the hotel was almost empty, and I have been such a long time loyal Marriott customer, that at the very least they could give us a discount on the second night, or some kind of reprieve. Not possible, they said, but they could upgrade us from a standard room for free next time we stayed there. That is something I already get with my Marriott Gold status so not really helpful.
We also had no linens for the pull out couch which we needed as there were 4 of us in one room with a king size bed. We were able to get those from the night manager who actually also offered us breakfast the next morning for the inconvenience. When I explained we'd been charged in full for the night we didn't stay she also offered us a pool pass for the following day- so she was very nice and accommodating. Reservations seems to be a different arm and it's a shame because Marriott corporate policy...
