Everything was cozy and lovely. We had excellent coffee and a delicious apple cake. We arrived just after the café opened, giving us the perfect opportunity to explore its three beautifully decorated rooms. Each space had its own charm, filled with vintage furniture, elegant statues, and antique decor. There was even a typewriter and a piano.

We were lucky to be there when another group arrived, and someone among them knew how to play. The soft piano music created a magical atmosphere. By the windows, books were thoughtfully placed for browsing, adding to the café’s charm. Warm lamplight filled the space, casting a golden glow, and a lovely garden stretched beyond the windows. I can only imagine how enchanting it must look in summer, like something out of a fairytale.

The lady at the counter was incredibly kind, her gentle smile and warm words making the experience even more pleasant. This café has become one of my favorites, and the fact that it’s nestled on such a peaceful island only adds to its charm.

From the moment I stepped into Kawiarenka Jadwigi, I was completely enchanted. The highlight for me was their magical garden—lush, peaceful, and the perfect spot to relax with a cup of coffee. It feels like a hidden oasis right in the heart of the city, with beautiful greenery and charming decor that makes every visit special.

What truly made my experience unforgettable, though, was the service. The lovely ginger-haired girl who served me was an absolute delight—friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about making guests feel welcome. She recommended a delicious coffee that quickly became my new favorite, and her warm smile made the whole visit even more enjoyable.

It's the calm and quiet and that invisible blanket of Zen that covers you while you're there. If not for a shear luck, I probably wouldn't find this place in the first place. It's shows on Google maps but it should be on top, even if you're half across the city.

Ein Besuch im Café lohnt sich wegen der selbstgemachten Leckereien, der Apfelkuchen ist besonders empfehlenswert. Nun was zu der Örtlichkeit selbst: Das hinter einer Mauer gelegene Ordenshaus mit seinem Garten gehört der Kongregation der Schulschwestern Notre Dame. Diese internationale Gemeinschaft, die in 35 Ländern aktiv ist, wurde am 24. Oktober 1833 gegründet, als Karolina Gerhardinger zusammen mit zwei Gefährtinnen in Neunburg in Bayern ein gemeinsames Ordensleben begann. Zwei Jahre später legte Karolina ihre Gelübde ab und nahm den Ordensnamen Maria Theresia von Jesus an. Im Jahr 1985 wurde sie von Papst Johannes Paul II. seliggesprochen. Heute widmet sich die Kongregation vor allem der katechetischen Arbeit sowie der Leitung von Internaten, Kindergärten und weiteren Bildungsprojekten. Das Klostergebäude wurde ab 1856 schrittweise als „St.-Anna-Konvikt“ für eine Mädchenschule errichtet. Es befindet sich im hinteren Bereich des Grundstücks und wurde auf den Fundamenten der ehemaligen Kurie des Heilig-Kreuz-Kapitels erbaut, die im 14. Jahrhundert entstand. Diese wiederum basierte auf den Überresten einer mittelalterlichen Burg. Aufgrund dieser baulichen Überlagerungen befinden sich die Relikte des Sitzes der Piastenfürsten aus dem 12. und 13. Jahrhundert heute etwa vier bis fünf Meter unter dem aktuellen Bodenniveau.
