Atmosphere: A typical small portuguese restaurant, yes - but typical for the 1980s or earlier. And not renovated probably since then - having quite a shabby interior as a result. Contemporary typical portuguese restaurants look different. But let's not judge by the appearance! Service: Specifically non Portuguese speakers would appreciate the host's attempts to communicate in other languages. But what most customers probably don't understand is that he mutters ironic impolite comments to himself while walking around the tables in a rush. And his attempts for jokes don't seem very appropriate. When raising a hand to call him and saying "excuse me" politely to attract his attention, his answer was "you're excused" as he just walked by. It took quite long for him to even pass by the table again. It's one person cooking, serving, handling payments and cleaning the tables! It's totally understandable why service is slow and he seems disturbed by requests... But those comments he makes and the jokes he allows himself when he thinks people don't understand are just unacceptable. I'm glad I speak Portuguese but don't appear like I do so I could really see what's behind the seemingly amusing and chatty host. Food: Unfortunately never managed to enjoy much of the described great quality. After waiting too long and hearing too many ironic comments, I just had my soup (which was quite ok) with some really stale bread, and left. Again, the payment was accompanied with muttered ironic comments like "that's not enough to even cover the costs for cleaning the table" and took really a long...
Read moreThis was undoubtedly the worst dining experience I've ever had. The food quality was extremely disappointing and didn't align with what was presented on the menu. Specifically, our order of grilled salmon arrived with over-boiled potatoes instead of the expected grilled ones, and there were no accompanying salads. The presentation of the grilled chicken was equally disheartening; it appeared like something unappetizing.
Adding to our disappointment was the deplorable attitude of the server. When we simply sought a place to dispose of a juice bottle, his response was shockingly rude. He was so angry, and demanding to know why we expected him to handle our trash and insisted that we carry it ourselves. This unexpected and uncalled-for reaction left us taken aback, particularly since we had not purchased the juice from the establishment. Despite complying and discarding the bottle in the designated bin, his anger and disappointment remained evident.
The overall atmosphere was equally inhospitable. I wouldn't even recommend this place to my worst enemy, as it would be a regrettable waste of both time...
