Alpendre do Carmo — Restaurant in Funchal

This was the worst dinner experience in 10 years of holidays on Madeira! Cold and chewy lasagna at Alpendre do Carmo.

The lasagna was piping hot on the outside, but the inside was ice cold. The cheese was so tough that I couldn't eat it. The ‘dough’ was tasteless and undercooked. Was it moved from the freezer into a hot oven? No idea, but it was inedible!!!

The service wasn't good either. We had already ordered and had a question about the tomato soup (whether it was tomato soup "Madeira-style" with an egg in it, or not…) The waitress didn't know and walked away irritated to ask. In the end she sent her colleague and we had to order again! She clearly didn't feel like working and she was very unfriendly. Her colleague was friendlier…

We will never go here again and we also advise you to eat elsewhere, for example at Elohim Momo around the corner. Much better!!! Elohim Momo is situated in a small street at the back of the square and serves divine Asian food!!! Neither of us like spicy food and the owner adapted all dishes to our taste. We went here for a drink with a big group, the service was amazing! The staff was super friendly and nice, we also received some really nice on the house snacks, I can definitely recommend the garlic pizza bread! 100% recommend this place, the location is also nice and the price is super reasonable for that the location...

Das ist schon fast zu schlecht um es zu kommentieren. Ich weiß nicht woher die ganzen guten Bewertungen kommen. Als Starter sollte es eine Tomaten / Zwiebelsuppe (laut Karte) geben. Gekommen ist ein etwas nach Tomate schmeckendes rotes, lappriges Etwas mit einem ganzen !!! Ei drin. Damit nicht genug, bestellt war laut Karte ein Beafsteak mit Pfeffersoße und Tagliatelle. Beim Schneiden des Fleischs habe ich Krämpfe in den Fingern bekommen, genauso toll war es dann auch zu kauen. Fertigsoßen lassen grüßen und die Krönung war, dass Spaghetti anstatt Tagliatelle kamen.....ist ja fast das gleiche. "Sorry the kitchen" war der Kommentar der völlig unmotivierten Bedienung. Die Pizza der Begleitperson war sogar eine Schande für jeden Pizza Lieferdienst!!!! Und dann auch noch richtig...
