The Golden Island Restaurant & Lounge Bar — Restaurant in Funchal

I stayed at Hotel Alto Lido just across the street for only a week during holidays, so my opinion can hardly be called a representative one. However, my friend and I went there four times during one week as we knew after the first evening that we'd get good food and drinks at reasonable prices there. Give it definitely a try if you haven't booked half pension at one of the hotels around. I recommend the grilled sardines...

The worst cod of my life...! It was full of bones and it was not fresh, which made it unenjoyable! 😳😕 Also, some of the vegetables in the side salad were days old and dry, such as the grated carrots.. 🤨 The meal definitely was not worth 12 euros!!

The worst burger in my life (take away by Glovo). If this poor cow knew she would die to become such a disgraceful cutlet - she would have died again, in shame. The meet was completely dry and tasted wierd, like it was mixed with some meet substitute. Bread tasted like gum, lettuce was at least 3 days old. I really hope this is because of being a take away, but wouldn't want to destroy my next dinner...
